Penthouse 280 Views/Outdoor Living/Pool/Gardens

ALL beachfront properties have good views of Half Moon Bay, but this condo has superlative views. Actually impossible to photograph as they are almost 270 degrees. Post card perfect!

The dreaded sargassum (seaweed) plagues much of the Caribbean and Mexican beaches. But our little complex, La Sirena, is one of the very few that has NONE due to our location on Half Moon Bay. Our clean beach combined with having twice the space as other complexes the same size, creates a very special private resort feel.

Originally built for one of the first land owners of Akumal, this condo is uniquely situated that it has the ultimate in Caribbean viewing for this area; beautiful towards both the south (towards Akumal Bay) and also to the north (Yal Ku). On a very clear day, you can see all the way up the coast to Puerto Aventuras, about 10 miles north. Combine this location, with Azul Cielo's extra expansive outdoor spaces, make this condo a uniquely special place.

Azul Cielo is located in the La Sirena condominium complex, which is on the northern end of Half Moon Bay. Half Moon Bay is now considered 'north' Akumal, just north of Akumal Bay, and where the majority of beach front condos and houses are, but NO large hotels! La Sirena is known for it's extra large pool (even with a lap lane), it's expansive gardens, and the largest beach area (double the width) of other complexes in Akumal. And just off our beach is a stunning coral reef providing the best snorkeling in miles.

Azul Cielo, is on the third floor, and has floor-to-ceiling windows for a complete unobstructed view across the full width of the condo. The beach-side covered patio is outfitted with fotons for fabulous lounging, and also dining, making it into a complete outdoor, but protected california lifestyle. Sleep, eat, or just be mezmerized by the best sunset views in Akumal.

The open floor plan consists of a large open combined kitchen and living area. The recent remodeled kitchen boasts South American granite, and cabinetry made of local hardwoods. It is fully outfitted with full size appliances, and everything needed for making your culinary favorites while gazing at the bay.

The condo has two large bedrooms along with two bathrooms. Each bedroom has king size beds with super comfortable orthopedic mattresses and pillows. The garden side bedroom has an on-suite bathroom, whose shower boasts a large window down into the gardens.

Just off the garden sized bedroom is a another large outdoor area, replete with seating. Views here are of our wonderful gardens and pool, the jungle and more of the Caribbean.

Azul Cielo is fully outfitted for a wonderful relaxing vacation. She has air conditioning throughout, as well as ceiling fans in every room, secured wireless internet, daily maid service, and English based satellite TV.

Our complex, La Sirena, is known for its wonderful tropical gardens which attract migrating butterflies, hummingbirds and even the occasional monkey! Within the gardens is our large pool boasting Caribbean blue tiles and even a large lap lane. This is a favored place to relax after time spent on the beach and sand.

La Sirena is located on the northern end of Half Moon Bay, now called North Akumal. As two lots were combined to create our complex, we have double the space AND BEACH as other complexes having the same amount of units.

Akumal is sixty miles south of Cancun International Airport, south on the four lane, newly renovated highway 307. Half Moon Bay (HMB) s considered the 'original' Akumal, along with Akumal Bay. HMB is where most of the beachfront houses and small condo complexes are; and is a designated ecological zone, therefore it is very low density. So while you are close to everything you are in the middle of nowhere as it is very private and quieter. North Akumal is a quiet, laid-back area focused on our beautiful bay and beaches, snorkeling and pristine diving. There are Mayan ruins, golf, nature parks, cenotes, even active nightlife.

As travelers ourselves we have adapted our policies to be much more supportive than the standard, including more flexible payment and cancellation options. We have also implemented the most modern current cleaning protocols. And our staff are dedicated only to us, they don't move around to other complexes... Less exposure. Finally our complex is twice the size as others, with the same number of units. So social distancing is natural. Check out our website for details!

Absolutely beautiful place in a very safe location. This by far exceeded our expectation. The daily maid service was fantastic and appreciated. The entire process from booking until we arrived was about as easy as it gets.

Lovely condo that is accurately described in the listing. You can tell this is a second home for the owner with the nice amenities and extra supplies of spices and toiletries. Only complaints which was minor is the low water pressure in the shower but that's part of living near water.

Week in Paradise
We just returned from a wonderful week stay in Azul Cielo. Diana was a gracious host, quickly responding to any questions we had. The condo was clean and well equipped, with lovely views of the water. We spent many hours relaxing under the palapas and snorkeling right off the property in Half Moon Bay. The pool area is an added bonus, surrounded by beautiful landscaping. La Sirena is perfectly located on a quiet street, walking distance from several excellent restaurants, Akumal Beach and the amazing Yal Ku lagoon. The Tulum Mayan ruins are a quick 30 min drive from La Sirena. The entire week was filled with fun and relaxation - we can’t wait to return!

Perfect location in paradise!
Just returned from a wonderful stay at Azul Cielo in this gorgeous location. The condo was lovely, everything we needed for our stay and more, and Diana was incredibly helpful and informative - from assisting with transfers to a wealth of information about the area and suggestions of what to do. Was a great idea of hers to stop for groceries on the drive down to stock up for our stay as limited grocery shopping in Akumal - we went over to the pueblo to the farmers market and stocked up on fresh fruit and vegetables galore. We were there for ten days but only left Akumal once - spent most of our time at the reef right outside our front door. Great snorkeling and steps away from the condo which is on the third floor and has a fabulous view of the bay from a lovely balcony with lush greenery - enjoyed the peacefulness and quiet of our location. Plenty of bars/restaurants down the road in Akumal - it's a bit of a hike in the heat but we rented a golf cart to get around. Yal Ku lagoon was right on our doorstep and we spent a lovely day there snorkeling - be aware that no sunscreen is allowed so bring a rash guard - go early before the crowds arrive. We snorkeled in Akumal Bay (must have a guide but he was great) and saw the magnificent sea turtles - an awesome experience! An absolutely wonderful vacation in a great location - highly recommend!

Relaxing Getaway
The Azul Cielo suite in the La Sirena condo complex is the perfect size for 3-4 people. The unit was clean, well-appointed, and what appliances we used were functioning. The view is spectacular from the south-facing deck which is mostly protected from the prevalent westerlies. Snorkeling and other water gear are provided, along with an exercise ball, a yoga mat, wireless speakers, and two TVs (one in the kitchen and one in the interior bedroom). The beds are hard but have foam toppers. We were there for 11 days but the sheets were not changed after a week per the instructions. The water pressure in the back bedroom shower was weak, so we only used the central shower. Otherwise, the suite met our needs.

Overall a Great Experience
3rd time staying on Half Moon Bay. I'd rate this location 4.5 stars if it would let me, but overall giving it a 4* due to just a few small things. Had a few housekeeping issues, and the property manager never really came to address, but Diana was 5* in working with us throughout. This unit on the 3rd floor has tremendous views - it is in good shape, and everything we needed was there. Beach and pool are both fantastic (beach is man-made mind you but that is clearly an advantage on HMB ). The property itself is clean & well maintained (the grounds). Anyway, we would recommend this unit and will be returning some day I'm sure.

Halfmoon bay at Akumal
Nice 2 bedroom condo on the beach, would definitely stay there again. Kitchen was well set up, bathrooms were clean and beds were really comfortable. Nice view of the bay, comfortable balcony and short walk to good restaurant. On the North end of the road around the bay so a quiet location. 5 minute walk to the lagoon for snorkeling. Only minor problem, the hot water pilot light blew out and had to be re-lit.

The property is as described. The condo is spacious, charming, and has character. Loved the high ceilings and the views. We stayed here Christmas week 2019. there were very few people along the entire Half-moon bay. The condo and the area in general were very quiet - great for a laid back, relaxing vacation.

Good in many ways
Had a nice vacation here. The good: Property is clean and neat. Beautiful view of bay and really gorgeous courtyard. Really comfortable beds and service was excellent. Lots of filtered water refilled without even asking. The grounds are meticulously well-maintained, including grooming of the beach area. Pool is clean, clear, and a nice place to spend some time surrounded by the beautiful plants. Free and abundant parking out front and an easy walk to Yal-ku. Check-in was simple even though we arrived very late at night. The bad: uncomfortable furniture, couches actually built in to the wall at right angles. We gave up on sitting together in the living area and piled onto the master bed. Other chairs are good for eating at the table but little else. Literally no comfortable place to sit and lounge. No microwave oven (odd, right?). Unpleasant smells in master bathroom. No hot water last 1.5 days and we didn’t have time to follow up before our flight out. The only fully functional TV was in the bedroom which, again, made it hard to enjoy time together unless we were all on the bed. Other: Plants are everywhere on the balcony. Pretty and nice, but so many that you really can’t sit and enjoy the view; they block it. Next door condo was sometimes party central with music booming late into the night twice during our stay. Our condo owners dealt with it after that so the nights were then quiet but the music still blared through the day. There never seemed to be anyone at the office or check-in area. We did get quick responses to emails but that’s not really real-time help if you need it. More generally, sargassum seaweed was awful in the bay so snorkeling was unpleasant about half the days. That was a shame because we had hoped to do more snorkeling. The sea wall at the condo, though, keeps it from piling up and stinking here like it does on much of the rest of the bay. Really this was one of the few places on Half-Moon Bay not beleaguered by the stench of rotting sargassum seaweed. We had to hold our breath through certain stretches around the bay as we biked or drove into town. One final note. If you have little kids please be aware that the balcony railing is only two horizontal boards and it looks like it would be very easy for a small child to slip through.

Awesome Stay!
We were two couples that really enjoyed this very well equipped condo (no BBQ facility though) for two weeks. Location was great, nice and quiet about 2 km from the arch in Akumal. Beds and bedding was wonderful. Snorkelling out front was decent and there were turtles out there. If you don't rent a car there are few restaurants within walking distance (La Lunita was one of our favs). Yal-Ku lagoon was great and would recommend. Thank you Diana for offering your condo, we had a great time!

Lovely condo with fabulous views
We're a family of four, now with two young adults, from Colorado and we typically take one or two beach vacations a year. We often stay at all inclusive resorts in Mexico and this was our first time using VRBO and a private condo. Previous to our stay I did lots of research and we couldn't have been happier with the condo itself and Half Moon Bay! The condo is very clean, the kitchen is well equipped (although I would recommend perhaps adding a microwave), all three air conditioners worked great and the beds were comfortable. There is even a large screen smart TV in one of the bedrooms but the best part were the comfy futon beds out on the large oceanfront balcony...perfect for afternoon naps. We did experience some problems with the hot water but they were tended to quickly after we reported the concern. My husband hurt his leg when we arrived at Cancun airport and he did struggle to get up to the condo on the stairs because he was on crutches. But the property manager, gardening staff and house keepers were particularly concerned about his well being, and moved swiftly around him. Outside the condo...we walked to Yalku lagoon which was great when the bay was a little rough. We took taxis two days to Akumal bay, which was about US $6 each way and was Us $5 per person to enter the beach. We took our own snorkeling masks and tubes and saw tons of fish, sting rays and some large turtles right in front of the two resort hotels...no need to hire a guide. Beyond that we mainly stayed at the beach in front of the condo and enjoyed several meals at La Buena Vida restaurant which is about a ten minute stroll from the condo. We found the water in the bay a little scary for us land locked people to be in for long, due to some sea urchins and tiny jellyfish, but we loved that we could sit on the sun loungers and see fish right from there. Overall we really enjoyed our trip and want to thank the owner for allowing us to share their home for a few days. We would definitely go back and would recommend it to families that enjoy the Mexican Riviera Maya and want a change from all inclusive resorts.

Beautiful!
Beautiful property - view is amazing. Beach out front is difficult with kids (very rocky and there are sea urchins), but the private beach in town is gorgeous and well worth the $5 admission. Pool is lovely after a long day of touring the area. Would highly recommend - can’t wait to go back!

I fell in love with this property the moment I arrived. It is beautiful, well maintained and clean. The views of Half moon Bay are spectacular! I felt like I was staying in the penthouse suite. Maneuvering the 3 flights of stairs was challenging especially with luggage and groceries, but worth the effort. Daily exercise you know. No pain, no gain.

Great place to relax and enjoy the Caribbean
My family (including 3 teenage daughters) loved this low key location. Great snorkeling steps from condo (bay or lagoon), easy walk to restraunts and nice long walk to town. We really enjoyed all of the outdoor spaces in the complex and especially the balconies in the condo. Diana’s plants really give the balconies a tropical vibe! Diana gave us great instructions and tips, and the condo staff was very attentive.

This is truly a lovely Mexican Carribe home. The sounds of the waves can be heard from the garden terrace and master bedroom. The front of the home is dominated by full unobstructed views of the water. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. The oceanside terrace is so private, and comfortabley furnished( complete with loved plants) that you don’t really want to leave.

Beautiful area of Mexico; lovely condo with everything you need
Loved Akumal and this condo. It has everything you need, especially excellent AC if you go to Mexico in July like I did. Very clean and well kept, it was nice to have a housekeeper do the dishes. The kitchen has a blender which we used to make our margaritas and plenty of other things that were a really nice touch (coffee filters, cooking spray, etc.). Diana was the best hostess giving us a nice VRBO tip sheet which covered everything from directions to condo, good stores to grocery shop at, her favorite ATM's and restaurant, and more. We found the patio on the garden side to be excellent for sitting in the evening for that lovely breeze and view; it was just too humid to sit outside on the back patio facing the ocean in July. Condo has beautiful gardens around the lovely pool, if you happen to stay at one of the other condos facing the garden it would be fantastic too. The ocean is only steps away. I do recommend water shoes b/c the water has rocks and things that you wouldn't want to step on in bare feet, but water is clear and we saw a turtle first day we went snorkeling. The condo has a nice sand area at the edge of water held up by retaining wall, the sand is beautiful and white. This place is really fabulous, I highly recommend it.

One of our best family trips!
This condo is absolutely exceptional. The views can be seen from the back of the condo to the edge of the balcony. Half Moon Bay is gorgeous. The kitchen had everything we needed and was the best-stocked VRBO that we've experienced. The condo has high ceilings and beautiful dark hand-carved wood doors throughout . There is a lovely balcony off of the master bedroom and the other large, covered balcony off of the main living/dining area. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed staying there. It is 3 flights up, but worth it once you arrive. Swimming in Half Moon Bay really does require river shoes/scuba boots. There is much wildlife and a beautiful reef right at the edge of the bay. My sons were thrilled to see a Stingray during one Half Moon Bay snorkeling excursion. The pool is also very peaceful and cool, placed in the interior of the condo complex and shaded by palm trees. Communication with the owner , Diana, was exceptional. She gave great instructions and there was never a worry. We hope to return one day!!!

Great vacation and condo!
This was our first time to Akumal and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Azul Cielo in the La Sirena Condominiums! The condo was beautiful inside and the perfect size for 2 couples. While the pictures listed on this site were stunning, being at the condo was even more impressive. The views of Half Moon Bay from the balcony and condo complex entry way were spectacular. The grounds were beautiful and the pool was great to relax in after snorkeling/swimming in the bay. Our days were spent swimming/snorkeling and stand up paddle boarding in Half Moon Bay and snorkeling in Yal Ku lagoon (just a 5 minute walk from the condo). We also spent some great times having superb food and drinks at La Buena Vida and La Lunita (both short walks from the condo). The staff at La Sirena were wonderful and Diana was also great! She sent us a lot of useful information about the area and made sure we had all the information we needed for a stress-free stay. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxation vacation in a beautiful condo and complex (that isn't crowded) - this is your place! We will definitely be back.

Great secluded location, beautiful views
This was a great place to stay at. Quiet corner of Half Moon Bay, several restaurants within walking distance. Can rent a bicycle at the condos. Pretty good snorkeling (coral, fish, and rays) though a little disappointed didn't see any turtles after a week of snorkeling. The place is very clean, comfortable, modern kitchen, great views. Nice beach area with shower, palm trees, and resident iguana.

Beutiful view and great staff
Nice property, great view great value. Definitely would rent again. The snorkeling is great, the pool wonderful and the property exceeded every expectation!
