The main issue with this property is that they extort money from travelers the minute they arrive. Upon arrival when they confirmed that we booked through Expedia we were ushered to a "special check in area" where we were told that we would have to pay an extra $2,200 for our stay on top of the $5,541.70 we already paid in full through expedia upon initial booking. Friends travelling with us were asked to pay an extra $6000 for their three children staying with them on top of the already paid in full initial booking. There were multiple families arguing with the check in staff on a daily basis about the same thing. Expedia, Nickelodeon resorts and Karisma are all aware of this and have not done anything to remedy the situation. We were told that we could cancel the entire trip outright or pay. It was 6pm, we had tired and hungry kids, we travelling with three other families as we planned this trip a long time ago and we were in Mexico where we couldn't just go back home or find another nearby hotel, especially as we stayed over the new year holiday and many places were completely booked. The resort and expedia are aware that it would be nearly impossible to just move to another hotel which is why they continue this type of extortion. Our total with the added cost came out to $1495 per night for a mediocre resort with no special amenities. I definitely would not recommend staying here. Stay somewhere else and you can buy a day pass for the water park if the kids want.
