"We’ve stayed in the Volcano area three times and this was the best accommodation by far. Check-in was flawless and our room was clean, large, and comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything. There was a mini-fridge with freezer and a microwave. There were also a few necessary cups, dishes, silverware and glassware. This is SO important in Volcano, as there are so few dining options. If you bring a well-stocked cooler, you could spend several days here comfortably. We would stay here...

"We really enjoyed the unique decor and setup. Our room had a separate coffee and sitting area, which allowed one of us to wake up early. The facility also covers heat and cold really well, with different built in heaters, a fan and extra blankets. Only small gripe - it has a fancy TV built into the wall that would not turn off. We suggested that the facility provide directions. On a positive note, the facility gave great directions and reminders in other areas. So, definitely come here if...

"Overall I'd give 4.5 stars. Great location if you want to be close to the National Park. I received a free upgrade to the king room on the ground floor, but there was a persistent musty smell, similar to a gym locker. The dehumidifier in the room would not work, despite the instructions to juggle the tank until the light turns off. I suspect this is the cause of the smell. Otherwise the accomodations were fine, bed was not very comfortable but worked after a long day hiking. Check in and check...

Eating-out options in Volcano town were extremely limited, so maybe consider going into Hilo (about 25 mins)... not the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in but definitely not the worst either. "We had a great stay in this new house about 25 minutes from Hilo. The house is comfortable and modern and had all the amenities that kept our family of 6 comfortable during our stay. It’s a short 3 minute drive down to the water and some amazing sunrises over the ocean with waves crashing on the rocks. Be a bit cautious pulling into the driveway as there is a lip on it that can damage your car if not taken slowly. Great stay near Hilo!"
