"The view cannot be beat! The living room, 1 bedroom, and main space are separate buildings connected with a covered walkway. I over looked the fact that it does not have air conditioning, for us that was not good. The view though is spectacular! "

"Our group loved the Whale House! There were 5 adults in our group and we had plenty of room. The lanai is spacious with plenty of seating (loved the rocking chairs) and the view is truly spectacular. We stayed 4 nights at the WH and 10 nights on the island. Our best photos during our trip were taken from the WH lanai, the private lot across the street (for Whale House guests only), and on hikes just down the dead end road on the trails. The garden in back is lovely--but we spent most of our time out front to take in the amazing ocean views! The various pieces of local art throughout the home added a nice extra touch. We've stayed in a number of vacation rentals and none were as well appointed & stocked as this one--toiletries, TP, kitchen utensils, towels, detergent for the washer, games, books, beach towels, coolers, umbrellas, bikes, boogie boards, etc. House was very clean and beds were comfy with super soft sheets. As others have mentioned, the hosts have thought of everything to make your stay hassle free. Location is about 10-15 minutes from the closest grocery store & restaurants so plan accordingly. David the host was very responsive to questions before our stay and after we arrived. The key to the 3rd bedroom downstairs was not there at check-in but when I contacted the host, someone was there shortly thereafter with the key. If we are blessed to return to the Hilo area, we would stay at the Whale House again. Mahalo nui loa to our hosts!!!"

"We’ve been to Hawaii many times and have stayed at many vacation rentals / airbnbs and I can say without a doubt the Jungalow was the nicest place we’ve stayed at so far. Check in was easy enough… we appreciated the extra security of the locked gate at the top of the driveway. The rental was secluded, serene and surrounded by beautiful tropical fruit, palm and avocado trees, which we took advantage of every morning to add some fresh local fruit to our breakfasts. I took a walk around the neighborhood and saw some other obvious vacation rentals, which weren’t nearly as private or as lush as the Jungalow. There was a big rain storm for the first couple of days but we were content to sit on the big lanai, watch geckos, listen to thunder and enjoy our peaceful time at our perfectly appointed home away from home. When the weather improved, it was just a short drive to nearby food, beaches etc. All in all it was a great rental and we would absolutely stay there again."

"What a beautiful slice of paradise—a little sweet cottage with everything we needed —off the grid (but still close enough to groceries and great restaurants) with excellent hikes and beaches nearby. Eric and Susie were excellent hosts with delicious breakfasts featuring local fruits and visits from their friendly cat, Slash. We left happy and relaxed. "
