The ideal tiny house NZ escape and finest tiny homes located in the historic gold mining town of Rimu, with panoramic views of the spectacular Southern Alps. Where you can relax and enjoy the sounds of native birds in the forest below, along with the Hokitika River, which winds down to the ocean under us, creating an idyllic setting for our gardens.
The Space:
Rimu View 2 by Tiny Away sits in the small town of Ruatapu in the Westland District, perfectly situated in one of the finest tiny homes in New Zealand's South Island, with covered patios and decks and amazing views. This tiny house allows you to enjoy slow-paced rural life, where you can fire up the BBQ or light the cozy garden fire to enjoy a relaxing getaway.
Hokitika Gorge, Stumpers Bar & Cafe, and Hokitika Beach are just a few of the nearby attractions in the area. A comfortable 139-square-foot stay with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities including an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please advise that we have a second tiny house called "Rimu View 1" situated approximately 5 meters away from your accommodation and approximately 50 meters from the main house. If you want to book in groups, please contact your land host 24 hrs in advance to make arrangements.
As an added note, Rimu View 1 and 2 have separate parking spaces that are conveniently marked with signage for easy navigation.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surrounding areas, except for the land host's private residence. If you are interested, we also have pre-orders listed below by prior arrangement with the host 24 hrs before arrival.
- Breakfast is available for an extra cost of $20 per person; prior request 24 hrs
- Gold panning experience is available during Spring and Summer only for $50 per person including tea and coffee
- Chef-cooked dinners are delivered at the cabin at $35 per person for 2 courses and must be arranged with the land host at least 24 hrs prior check-in date
- We also have a taxi van that will bring up to 8 guests to anywhere on the coast including your land host's property, please make a prior reservation 48 hrs before arrival.

Rimu View 2 by Tiny Away sits in the small town of Ruatapu in the Westland District, New Zealand's South Island. Where you enjoy nearby attractions such as multiple glow worm dells, historic gold mining workings, and lookouts with information boards.
Our local recommendations:
- Woodstock Domain has amazing views of Hokitika River and the Southern Alps, as well as great short walks.
- Hokitika Gorge is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning turquoise waters and scenic rainforest walks.
- New World Hokitika Township is an indoor shopping centre/full-service supermarket stocked with a variety of fresh foods and groceries.
- Stumpers Bar & Cafe in Hokitika offers a delicious selection of meals and assorted drinks mostly famous for its pork ribs, belly pork, and lamb shanks.
- The Hokitika Glow Worm Dell is located right on the highway at the northern entrance to the town. This location has the cutest little glow worm dell only a minutes walk from the highway. See the fairy-like lights at night.
- Shantytown Heritage park is one of New Zealand’s premier cultural and heritage attractions. A faithfully recreated 1900s pioneer town, born out of, and stimulated by, the great West Coast gold rushes of the 1860s.
If you want to explore more, Hokitika Beach, Lake Kaniere, and Lake Mahinapua with glassy reflective views are just a short drive away.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 3 hrs stunning drive from Christchurch to Hokitika.
- 30 km from Hokitika to Greymouth following the ocean.
- 1 hr drive to Punikaiki passing through the famous pancake rocks, which are all 2wd accessible.
By public transport:
- We have a taxi van that will bring up to 8 guests to anywhere on the coast including your land host's property. Please contact your host 48 hrs before arrival to make arrangements.

- Mobile reception is good with Telstra, Vodafone, 2degrees, and Spark. No signal with Optus
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the [compost/cassette] toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
