"Adorable cottage in a country setting. Very peaceful and picturesque. Perfect home away from home for my 2 pups and myself. Enjoyed hiking through the woods on the property and the hot tub. Cottage is stocked with everything you need. Taylor was great and very responsive. "

"First problem was the lock box combo is wrong. We came when it was just getting dark. My wife and I tried the combo multiple time’s still would not unlock. We had to use the emergency key. From what the neighbor was saying the lockbox has been broken for a while and still it’s not fixed Second problem, bathroom sink was clogged up had to plunge it to get all the hair and everything out of it It’s not quite unclogged, but good enough to get the water to drain maybe some Drano or clean out the...

"The property is not maintained outside. Safety concerns for sure. Huge hole leading into dock. Sock needs to be power washed due to buildup it’s very slippery. Bricks, stones, 2x4s randomly placed trip hazards everywhere. Lawned not mowed. Trash wasn’t picked up from previous renters . Inside ok for a DIY, table unstable, plywood bench, bed support broken. There more but that says a lot"

"Property owner was responsive to questions. Property was even better than pictures show. Be aware though of steep walk to the lake (which was known to us). Elderly and young children probably won't make it. But we got used to it and offers a nice, short exercise. Plenty of stocked firewood for a campfire and s'mores. Great stay!"

"My husband and I stayed for a few days between Christmas and New Years. Although the weather was not ideal, we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation! The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, the kitchen was perfectly equipped for cooking the delicious local produce, and the bathroom was luxurious. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and we loved learning about the farm. We would look forward to staying here again or visiting the other BNB location at Smith Mountain. "The house is in a great quiet location on a little cove of Smith Mountain Lake. It is away from things enough to have privacy but still not a long drive to stores, restaurants, etc. We were in town for a family wedding at a local venue. The house was good for myself, husband, daughter and son-in-law. I chose a pet friendly house so I could bring my oldest dog with me. However the stairs inside the house were too steep and slippery for him to use safely and I would also not recommend for anyone...

"Rented Blackwater for my 40th birthday celebration. I couldn't imagine a better place if I tried. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. The arcade was beyond my dreams! The decorations for Halloween made it even better. We're already planning a return in the summer. Communication with the host was fast and reliable, and they added some personal touches for my birthday that were very sweet and definitely appreciated. The kitchen also had everything we needed! "A cozy place right on the Smith Mountain Lake. Well stocked and easy access. Amazing views and very peaceful. Close proximity to hiking spots and not far from Lynchburg and Roanoke. We hope to be back."
