We had booked a second-class room without a bathtub or historic view, and on our arrival we found this room overlooked the decommissioned swimming pool area that was being renovated by busy builders. Someone had left a fruit basket in the room, but we were unsure if this was an 'extra' so we decided not to touch it. The hotel is close to riverboat cruise liners but quite a long way from most...

"Unique entrance at area taxis cannot enter (but they can drop you at the top of the hill very near by). Breakfast was exceptional with all the choices. Room was quiet and clean. Beautiful tapestries and old shoes as decorations in our room. Nice corner cushioned nook to rest on. Two twin beds. Excellent place. Would return. "

"The location is a plus and the staff were so welcoming and help a lot with many of my inquiries, the ladies at the front desk lobby were incredible, I wish i could remember their names, Marta Rodrigues is one of them. The staff at breakfast area were like family, they knew my orders after 3 days ( i stayed a total of q5 days and will be back February 9th) Hugo, Kathia and the hostess were great, I was very happy to have breakfast each day with such a lovely team (and breakfast was good 👍). I encounter some minor issues though: like the first week I had the shower flooding constantly (room 417) then in room 221 the AC did not work 😑 and end up sleeping in such a hot room... they fix it but it kept stopping. Also, I had to use an extension cord from the bedroom to the bathroom to be able to use hair dryer... "

Excellent

"It was only a short overnight stay, but a great choice of hotel. Admittedly a little pricey for around 17 hours, and the only time in the hotel was for sleep. However, it can't be denied that this is a top class hotel, not a budget one. It should be noted that there's currently work going on around the hotel - I think it's to do with a metro extension, BUT it wasn't noticeable from inside. There are 2 metro stations very close by. The hotel is beautiful inside, and the staff were very helpful. No complaints at all."

Amazing stay…. No questions asked!

"This has to be one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. From the moment we arrived; the staff were extremely friendly and courteous; as soon as the door opens they are greeting you (every day) it was a nice gesture. They cannot do enough for you. The room was spotless, and the cleaners were back and fore all day, checking the water in the room and if we needed more. The lounge area for the bar was peaceful and staff were attentive and helpful when choosing a drink. The spa area and gym we used once and this was so relaxing. The pool was lovely temperature and was heated inside and out, the gym was small but had a few bits to use. We didn’t make use of treatments but they seemed good. On to the breakfast, WOW! The choices were out of this world, fresh fruit juices, fruit, yogurt bowls plentiful pastries and cakes, hot food, but also freshly made eggs benedict, avo on toast or omelettes, and these were a complete treat. I would highly recommend this hotel, the welcome from staff; the food, the cleanliness and the overall quality of service and comfort. We will definitely stay here again without a doubt. Thanks to all the staff "
