Enjoy sun, sea and sand at the picturesque Puerto Angelito Beach (Playa Puerto Angelito). This small stretch of pristine sand curves around the attractive Puerto Angelito Bay and slopes gently down into tepid, transparent water. Splash around in the Pacific Ocean, admire views of the greenery-clad cliffs and look for seabirds flying overhead.
Arrive early to find a spot on the beach before the crowds get here. Relax on the soft sand and take in the incredible natural surroundings. Chat with the local vendors that wander up and down the beach. Most of them sell artisanal wares and souvenirs such as bracelets, key rings and necklaces decorated with coral and shells.
Active beachgoers can choose from a wide range of water-based activities on offer here. Rent snorkeling equipment, dive into the ocean and marvel at the multicolored fish that swarm around the sea bed. Join a boat tour and go in search of dolphins and sea turtles. Sightings of both creatures are common year-round. Between December and March, these waters are also populated by migrating humpback whales. Tour operators also run fishing excursions from the beach.
Lining Puerto Angelito Beach are several bars and beach clubs. Sit on shaded patios and satisfy your hunger with plates of delicious fresh seafood accompanied by a cold beer, cocktail or fruit juice.
The beach can get crowded on weekends and holidays. If it becomes too busy, simply walk to the eastern side of the beach and cross a rocky outcrop to access the adjacent Manzanillo Beach. Often quieter than its neighbor, this stretch is a great place for safe swimming and snorkeling.
Puerto Angelito Beach is about a 5-minute drive from El Adoquín and easily accessible via taxi. Water taxis also travel between the bay and Playa Principal.
