SkyWheel is one of only two ways to enjoy a panoramic view of Niagara Falls and the surrounding area from the Canadian side. (The other aerial view is from Skylon Tower.) The wheel sits on an east-west axis, directly opposite the American Falls. You’ll see both American and Horseshoe falls, as well as the Niagara River up and downstream on each rotation. You’ll also get a view of Clifton Hill restaurants and entertainment venues.
Look out for the life-like dinosaur head a few feet from the gondola window just after the ascent begins: it’s sure to thrill the kids! After your ride, play a round at the miniature golf course at the base of SkyWheel, where you’ll find several other dinosaurs lurking.
The 175-foot (53-meter) SkyWheel began operating in 2006 and is open year-round. Enjoy 360-degree views from each of the 42 climate-controlled gondolas, which comfortably seat six.
The trip includes three to five complete revolutions, and lasts for eight to 12 minutes. Don't forget your camera as there are plenty of opportunities to photograph the falls from this glorious perspective. The number of cycles depends on the length of the waiting line, with a shorter ride during the high season.
The SkyWheel is located in Niagara Falls’ Clifton Hill entertainment area. The wheel is open daily, with later hours during the summer. Purchase tickets online for the SkyWheel alone or as part of a Clifton Hill Fun Pass, which includes four other attractions in the area.
