"We found The Big Island Rereat to be just as good as the pictures! It was easy to find right off Ali'i drive. Check in and out were both very easy. We stayed in the Ocean View room which was just as advertised. There is no AC which is in the room description so there was no surprise. Ceiling fan and to other larger standing fans kept the air moving through the room. There is a common area which has beach chairs to use and some snorkel gear and boogie boards as well and an outdoor kitchen...

"Such a beautiful, cozy, small spot hidden in the foothills of the Kona side of the big island. The owners are an absolute treat, the property is paradise, and the location is unbeatable. Minutes from anything you could want or need on that side of the island and within 2 hours of the Hilo side of the island. Highly recommend trying this place out. The “Maile” room was perfect for me and my wife on our fiancée! Very homey and comfy for our needs. "

On the positive side, this apartment has a nice, well-equipped kitchen, a spacious living room and porch, and a large, but tricky to operate shower. "The studio was private, clean, and offered nice amenities. You can tell a lot of care and attention to detail went into the place. The owners were very responsive. We felt very welcome when we arrived, finding a treat and local music playing. The Plumeria cottage was a great place for our two night stay in Kona and had everything needed for someone staying longer. Thank you!"
