"Matteo is a fantastic host and the property is simply amazing!! Both the design and location. But I think the best quality was how relaxing and homely the place felt, it really did feel like a luxury private home rather than a guesthouse. The views over Pedra da Gavea and Sao Conrado were breathtaking, and again Matteo was a fantastic and conscientious host. I can wholeheartedly recommend Tuakaza, and I personally would like to stay there again. Muito obrigado Matteo. Tom"

"The hotel is up the hill away from the madness of the beach and downtown areas, but still a 15 minute walk to the heart of Gavea and a 15 minute cab ride (download Uber or app called "99" before you go!) to Ipanema and Leblon. Everyone at the hotel is friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning is superb, especially when the monkeys come and join you. The pool is small but the hot tub is great (you have to ask them to heat it up 40 minutes in advance, though, and they shut it down...

"This is a must see! The place is literally inside the forest with the most beautiful nature surrounding you. They have a pool that fills up with water from the purest waterfalls! The service is like no other... we felt like everything was personalized to us. We are amazed by everything and everyone at the Pousada Paraiso do Acu. Highly recommend!"

"Well it was just as described - basically a comfortable guest house in the middle of the rain forest - perfect. The surrounding areas are beautiful and perfect for hiking or touring around by car as I did. Hospitality is great and there was even a good internet connection at the house which allowed me to catch up with friends and family during my stay. Fantastic!"

"I actually ended up across the road at the hotel adjacent to water park. ammenities were similar but geared to families...very basic accomodations and a bit dated. Food was good for an all inclusive....but definately brazilian centric. "

"You pay for the view. A great location, albeit reached via a dodgy road. Check in was tricky as the signage is poor. Breakfast was very average, as was the room, although the view from the room was spectacular. Check out was unprofessional as we had to pay for a couple of items from the fridge, but they had no change for cash and the card machine didn't work. Overall, poor value for money and we were pleased to only stay one night. "

"Overall experience was great. The staff was incredibly friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the special experience of having a functional fireplace in the room. It kept us nice and warm on a chilly night (even though the chimney was rusted with many holes for smoke to enter the room).
