"Stayed here twice--a couple years ago and recently (a couple weeks ago). Both times, was great. The two masters are great, and the kids enjoyed their own hideout--the loft area, which has twin bunk and a pull-out sofa, and TV. Very clean, and great communication with the owner from the instant I booked to the time I left. Feels more spacious than the photos, feels like a stand-alone home. A stone's throw from Tahoe Donner. Would definitely book here again!"

"We just loved our stay! The property was warm, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We loved the touch of the lighted trees outside and enjoyed roasting s’mores in the fire pit. The kitchen & pantry were stocked with anything you’d need. We would definitely come again for another stay. Hard to head home after our peaceful mountain getaway!"

"We loved our stay at Schaffer Mill. The house was nicer than the pictures showed and everything was well appointed. The house is close to all the amenities such as the pool, tennis courts, basketball court and restaurant. We had a few questions when we arrived and all the Schaffer Mill staff were helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay there again!"

"The place is like a mountain lodge. Eight nice sized bedrooms, the view is amazing. We did not use the jacuzzi, plunge pool or sauna. Great place for entertaining. Does need some TLC. Door locks, several fireplaces, some lights did not work as well as coolers in bar downstairs. A few bedrooms had some spider issues, but it’s the mountains. Main deck needs to be redone. But overall was a great weekend for friends and family. Good hiking in the area as well! Relatively close to downtown Truckee...

"The property by itself is 20min far from the lake. The picture of the lake in hotel booking pictures will confuse you, well just letting you know there is no lake or river around the hotel. "Spacious and well equipped 3 bed, 3 bath. Loved the cozy fireplace both inside and on the patio. Tv was difficult to operate and without instructions. Kitchen was nicely equipped. Grounds were in some disrepair and hot tub we were directed to was very dirty and full of debris. Main pool hot tub was great though. Love the convenience of the village. "
