We visited all the sites advertised, but our Egyptologist guide's command of English was so poor that we had difficulty understanding him or engaging him in any dialogue or discussion. Because of this he made no attempt to engage as we drove across Cairo to point things out but just chatted to the driver. His written research work is probably excellent, but he was not engaged for that. Very disappointing as he could only download what he knew in a stream of information. Tour inclusion of lunch at a local restaurant was a workers cafe with one dish of rice and noodles plus sauce. This may have been because it was Ramadan and restaurants were shut until evening. We enjoyed it but was not what seemed to be promised. We had made it clear we were not interested in tourist tat but despite that we were taken to the market, but he did take us to a spice shop.
