Ravenna is rich in Byzantine period basilicas and their fantastic mosaics! My guide was thoroughly knowledgeable and engaging and did her best to show me Ravenna's treasures most of which were UNESCO designated. The city is very walkable and tourist friendly with taxis/buses right outside the station if you should get winded. UBER is totally useless here as the app can never find drivers willing to pick you up from ANYWHERE in the city. If you want to visit sites outside the city such as San't Apollinaire en Class (well worth the taxi or bus ride!) take a taxi from the station - they are all lined up in order of availability to the LEFT of the exit doors...

We had a lovely 3 hour tour, guided by Sergio. What a surprise this city was, with 8 Unesco sites, of which we saw 5. Sergio was very knowledge of the history of the city, dating back to the Romans. We highly recommend this tour if you enjoy Art, architecture and history.

We had a great time in Ravenna on the guided tour of the Mosaics in Ravenna. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided extensive information on Ravenna and the various Mosaic sites. We started in Bologna and caught the train for a quick trip to Ravenna. It was easy to walk from the train station and locate the meeting point with the guide. Highly recommend.

Amazing mosaics. Guide was great with the religious back story of the time. Made me want to do more research.

Iona, our tour guide, had an excellent base knowledge of all 5 sites visited, which she delivered in a friendly and humorous way. Iona was able to answer all questions asked, in way in a calm and interesting way, which added to the experience. We travelled by train from Bologna and the ticketing experience, included in the tour price, was easy to manage.

The tour was a great look through the history of Ravenna, with the amazingly well preserved churches and mosaics. Our tour guide explained all the details and symbolism present in them, and had a great time in Ravenna.

We visited Ravenna with little knowledge of its history, but keen to see the mosaics. Serena brought the places we visited to life with her huge knowledge, great English and enthusiasm. The mosaics are stunning and it’s beyond my comprehension that they are there. It was a fantastic tour. It’s so much better with a guided tour than going it alone. There was plenty of time at each stop for a good long look.

The mosaics are wonderful, unmissable, and the guide was very good. But the travel information provided by Viator was very poor. They let us know only the day before that we should be at Bologna an hour earlier than advertised, that is after we had bought our train ticket to get there. Then they booked us on a return train that left at the same time that the tour ended 15 minutes walk away, so we could not possibly have caught it, and did not inform us correctly about when we should validate the tickets, so that we risked a fine. Happily we didn't get one, but no thanks to Viator. We rang them when we found they had stranded us in Ravenna but they had no help to offer. In summary, go to see the mosaics, but double and triple check any travel information you get from Viator.
