Itinerary
After picking you up at your hotel in Puno at 6:30 am, we will head south to cross the border with Bolivia to reach Copacabana.
Before heading to the Island of the Sun, we will visit the Copacabana Sanctuary. At the port of Copacabana we will board a catamaran that will take us across the waters of Lake Titicaca to the legendary Island of the Sun. During the crossing, we will offer you a snack on board to keep you full of energy.
We will disembark in Yumani, at the southern end of the legendary Isla del Sol. We will explore this area considered to be the cradle of the gods responsible for the origin of the Inca empire. We will visit some of the archaeological remains of the Incas, including an impressive system of terraces known as the Garden of the Inca. We will climb the famous Inca Stairway to reach the Sacred Fountain where subway streams of water of three different flavours converge, considered by the locals as “the fountain of youth” for its supposed healing properties.
Our next stop will be the impressive Inti Wata Complex, where we will visit the Ekako subway museum, the Inca Refuge and the Pachamama terraces of Inca agriculture, as well as attend an Andean ceremony performed by a Kallawaka. Afterwards, we will discover how Andean ancestral navigation used to be by taking a ride aboard a typical totora reed raft. From the boat, we will have an impressive panoramic view of the Pilkokaina Palace.
After discovering the secrets and legends of the Inca civilisation, we will return to the port of Yumani to board the catamaran that will take us back to Copacabana. Around 2:30 p.m., we will have a delicious buffet lunch on board. The meal includes quinoa soup, different salads, dijon trout or chicken in its sauce, with spring rice, sautéed potatoes or cooked plantain, and dessert (ice cream or fruit salad).
Once in Copacabana and with our energies replenished, we will start our way back to the hotels in Puno, where we will arrive around 6:30 pm.
