This two-hour tour consists of two parts.
First, we will take a pleasant walk through the city centre and get acquainted with the Art Nouveau architectural style, unusual for Scandinavia. The streets of Ålesund are so narrow that locals say: “The best transport in Ålesund is your feet!”
You'll explore the city at your own pace and choose which attractions interest you most. As you cross the bridge at Little Venice, you will learn about the poverty that once gripped the city and how it has grown into a prosperous and modern city.
Walking with a local guide, you will not just look at the fairy-tale houses, you will carefully examine them.
Thus, by the end of the tour you will become a connoisseur of Art Nouveau and will be able to distinguish this beautiful style from others!
We will then head to Mount Aksla and other remote parts of the city to continue exploring hidden gems.
Admire the colourful houses, Sunnmore mountain range and many picturesque islands. Finally, visit a house that survived the fire that swept through the city and learn how this wooden house managed to survive.
If we have time, we will visit the island of Hessa and admire its stunning panoramic views.
