« We were pleased with how central the property is - with a 5 year old and 2 year old it was lovely to be able to walk everywhere. The rooms were lovely and the house was well equipped. We were surprised to see the ghost tour stops right outside the house, but didn’t dwell on that too much! »

« The cottage is built unusually which my three kids loved. You go up a short flight of stairs as you go in and that takes you to a nice kitchen with plenty room for a family to eat in. You then go up another flight of stairs. There’s a large bathroom with shower, a living area and a bedroom.(single bed). You dig up another flight of stairs to two bedrooms, one double, one twin. « The house was everything we hoped for and more. The decor is spot on and there can't be many houses in Whitby with a better vista. The only thing I would say though is that it is very difficult to load and unload...Church St car park was packed so we had to use the Abbey car park which is a gruelling up/downhill slog for the less fit/able. Be prepared to travel very light as you can't get close to the property with a car. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return. »

Water damage on the walls, peeling paint, leaking toilets, a broken shower and windows that haven’t been cleaned in years. The owners need to spend a lot of money on this establishment that must have been spectacular in the past, as neither it or the staff deserve it being left in this state. »

« Lovely clean room, comfy bed. Ate in the bar & enjoyed a nice meal, friendly staff in bar area. It was not warm enough to sit in the garden but in warmer weather there were plenty of tables outside in a nice spacious garden. Hotel is situated away from the centre of whitby but is very handy for the park & ride bus service which works out much cheaper than using the town car parks. »
