Skiing, snowboarding: St. Georgen / St. Lorenzen is located directly at the foot of the Kreischberg, the most popular ski area in the Murau area. The Kreischberg has 42km of snow-sure slopes for all requirements at 850 to 2200 m. Wonderful descents on the rosary, spacious practice meadows, wide carving slopes and the selective valley descent. The offer for children is also particularly varied: Yabba-Dabba-Doo Land, Dinopark, children's tubing, trampoline, magic carpet and much more. Snowboarders will not miss out on the longest halfpipe in Europe directly on the Kreischberg (venue of the Snowboard World Championships in 2003 and 2006, 2010, 2015). A large selection of trails is available for cross-country skiers. All this just a few meters from the front door.
And there are four other ski areas in the immediate vicinity (Frauenalpe, Grebenzen, Lachtal and Turracher Höhe) for even more variety. Ski buses go there until March and stop about 100m from the house.
Hiking: The Murtal holiday region in Styria offers numerous beautiful hiking trails of all levels of difficulty between 800 and 2700m above sea level. Clear landscape differences between the eleven major hiking regions make hiking in the Murtal region varied and interesting. The Gstoder is one of the “most promising” peaks in the region, the sporting challenge is the 7-summit tour from the Frauenalpe to the Kreischberg. Even more leisurely hikes from hut to hut with a more culinary focus or from organic farmer to organic farmer are enjoying increasing popularity.
The gondola lift on the Kreischberg serves as a climbing aid in summer and is very popular for those brave hikers who dare the 7 summit rounds.
Other leisure options: Murtal rafting: The Mur is still wildly romantic on its upper reaches and offers optimal conditions for rafting games with all levels of difficulty including Adventure tour and trial tour. Golf: The 18-hole golf course is located between the Kreischberg and Murau. Forests, ponds and the Mur form a pretty backdrop. Striking golf elements characterize the course. The practice facilities are equipped with a driving and short game range, tee box and putting green. Cycling: The Murradweg between Stadl an der Mur and Murau shows its most beautiful side. The backdrop of the Tauern and Nock Mountains, the bicycle trains of the Mur Valley Railway, excursion and rest points along the route - the heart of every pedal knight beats faster. Riding: The offers around the horse include horse rides, riding lessons, riding arena, pony rides, horse hikes and carriage rides. In Stadl the artificial lake awaits you for swimming in summer and ice skating in winter.
