Sightseeing:
A former privateer city, the fortified town of Saint-Malo is built on a rock. With its magnificent ramparts, it offers a magnificent panorama over the sea and the Channel Islands, Jersey, Guernsey and Sark. If the tour of the ramparts is a must, the city of Robert Surcouf and Jacques Cartier is not to be outdone either, with its picturesque cobbled streets, its rich shipowners' houses and its castle, whose dungeon is home to the Museum of the History of the City and the Malouin Country. In Saint-Malo, you can watch the high tides or the start of the Route du Rhum, go to the National Fort at low tide, built according to Vauban's plans, discover Chateaubriand's tomb on the islet of Grand Bé, and explore the bay of Saint-Malo on a promenade boat...
Those who enjoy walking or cycling can follow the signposted route through the Rance valley, where mills, malouinières and fishing villages punctuate the landscape.
Another stopover not to be missed is the famous seaside resort of Dinard, which has preserved some magnificent villas from its Belle Époque past: the Clair de Lune promenade or the Malouine promenade will reveal some of them to you.
Between Dinard and Saint-Malo, the Rance tidal power plant, commissioned by EDF in 1966, is open to the public: an interesting visit to discover the production of electricity by the movement of the tides.
In medieval Dinan, a town of art and history, take the time to stroll through the narrow streets, visit the feudal castle, admire the timber-framed houses and the beautiful religious buildings.
No visit to Cancale is complete without a visit to the oyster beds or the Marine Farm, and a tasting of seafood, with a view, for example, of the port of La Houle. The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions will reveal objects, costumes and traditions of the life of the Cancalais.
