The region boasts stunning views, rugged mountains, and diverse wildlife such as wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas, and more. A unique and picturesque tiny house Victoria retreat set on 150 acres with walking and biking tracks, gold mines, vineyards and distilleries.
The Space:
The Edge of Nowhere - Chestnut by Tiny Away is situated in a rural town within the Pyrenees region, just an hour's drive from Ballarat. It is well-known for its Victorian architectural heritage and popular attractions like Sovereign Hill and Lake Wendouree.
The tiny house is in a secluded corner of the property and nestled at the base of the Pyrenees Ranges. It is situated right beside a chestnut tree that overlooks the seasonal creek. If you keep walking, you will find an abundance of fruits, vegetables, and nuts available.
Close to Avoca Hotel, an hour to Grampians National Park, and other nearby towns including Stawell, Halls Gap, and Ararat.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We would like to advise guests that there may be occasional noise from other visitors during the day. However, the nights are quiet except for the sounds of animals.
For light sleepers, we recommend bringing earplugs with you to ensure a peaceful, well-rested stay.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surroundings. There are no restrictions apart from the main house area, which is 400m from the accommodation.
If you're interested, there is a horse stud at the end of the road where you can go horseback riding.

The Edge of Nowhere - Chestnut by Tiny Away sits in the rural town of Nowhere Creek, just an hour's drive from Ballarat and popular attractions like Sovereign Hill and Lake Wendouree. Among the nearby towns are Stawell, Halls Gap, and Ararat are all within 40-55 minutes away.
Our local recommendations:
- Woolworths and Aldi in Ararat that you can easily access from our property.
- Avoca Hotel has a charming country pub that offers a variety of local wines and delicious gourmet food.
- One Tree Hill Lookout is a popular spot that boasts a number of bushland tracks for walking, cycling, and running.
- Grampians National Park is just an hour's drive away, and offers an array of hiking trails, waterfalls, breathtaking mountain views, and more.
- Blue Pyrenees Estate is also worth visiting, as it is a historical attraction that offers handcrafted wines from the Pyrenees region. They have been making wine since 1963.
- Mount Buangor State Park is a 2400-hectare park that features varied eucalypt forests, creek flats, steep escarpments, and the area's highest peak, Mount Buangor (987 m.).
Getting Around:
By car:
- Towns are 10 minutes to Elmhurst, 25 minutes to Avoca, 30 minutes to Ararat. We are a 2 ½ hour drive from Melbourne and 1 hour northwest of Ballarat. You can get around in both 2WD and 4WD.
By public transport:
- Taxis and Uber service the area from Ararat. Trains run from Melbourne to Ararat.
Other Things to Note:
- Pets are allowed by prior notice
- Gas and charcoal BBQ Grill are available
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Telstra has a weak signal, and the rest has no signal
- Pets are not allowed on beds and sofas, and clean after your pet’s droppings
- Please clean up after your pet’s shedding before checking out in courtesy of other guests
- Please note that this is a PET-FRIENDLY property, and pet policies will be sent prior to arrival
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Guests are welcome to smoke on the property; however, smoking inside the tiny house is not permitted. Please note that additional charges may apply if the unit retains a cigarette smell.
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property.
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the [compost/cassette] toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
