Kemp & Olive Cottage: Tiny Cottage for Two Guests and Pups!

Summary:
Vacation in simpler times with your pups.

The sound of the screen door closing behind you, the smell of the sea in the air and the vintage feel of old school Nags Head - if you've ever said, "remember when," then this 1950's cottage is for you! Renovated yet nostalgic and full of classic Nags Head charm, this is the well-appointed beach cottage you’ve been looking for.

A dog-friendly cottage with a studio layout, Kemp & Olive features a well-equipped kitchen, a flat screen TV, WiFi, cable, a shared washer & dryer, and a mini-split heating & air conditioning system for optimal temperature control. The outdoor area offers an outdoor shower, charcoal grill, an outdoor hose, and a backyard firepit – B.Y.O firewood and smores!! For your convenience, the cottage has a cart for hauling your beach gear to and from the sand.

Linens and cleaning are included in the rate. Linens are provided by an independent vendor (bed linens, bath towels, washcloths, sheets). Bed will be made when you arrive!

Our awesome caretakers, Mike and Lisa, live nearby and are as committed to your experience as we are.

Located on the beach road, the property is just a short walk away from a beautiful beach access over a natural dune on Grouse Street (see aerial photos above). One of two cottages onsite, Kemp and Olive is one of just a handful of cottage courts still in existence in Nags Head.

In addition to many local retail shops, fine and casual dining establishments and grocery stores, the cottage is also close to many great local attractions including the beautifully renovated Jennette's Pier (less than one mile away), the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo, Jockey's Ridge, Tanger Outlet shopping, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, and off-roading and fishing at Oregon Inlet.

There is a two-dog maximum, we do not allow cats, and we do not charge a pet fee. There is no smoking allowed in the cottage. The cottage is not handicap accessible.

Amazing Stay!
Such a perfect location for what I consider to be the coziest 1 room cottage. Quiet location, clean property, and my pup was just as happy as me. Short walk across the street to get to the beach, and close to anything that I would need. Would definitely stay here again. No issues with anything!

Sweet Getaway
We were looking for a quiet time away with our pup and Kemp and Olive fulfilled our desires! The short, five minute walk to the beach was awesome! We had plenty to do each day and then enjoyed coming back to the cottage, with all is amenities, to enjoy a relaxing evening ! The owner/caretakers were sweet and responsive! We would definitely visit again!

Just perfect for one or two. It’s super cozy, and has all the comforts available to do so. The location is perfect…close to the beach, dining, Manteo and Hatteras access, shopping and sites. The house
We were surprised as to how well the property was maintained. Dog rentals are usually not kept up like other properties. If the weather cooperated the stay would of been perfect. It got cold and windy our last 2 days so we stayed in the house longer. It is comfortable and the dogs were comfortable. Great place we will rent it again and we yold some friends about it.

Wonderful, Hidden Gem!
So many great things to say about this place! It was a week stay at this lovely cottage, my husband, myself and our 2 dogs. We arrived a bit early on check in and the lovely couple who clean the place, was able to let us check in early which was amazing! The place was as cute as can be! Decor was adorable and thw size was perfect for us 2 and our dogs. We felt very comfortable and safe here. Literally the beach is under a 1 min walk and I was shocked on how much the cottage had for us to use, like beach chairs, and even a cart that pushes in the sand you can put all your stuff in. he porch was cozy too, and we enjoyed many evenings watching the people pass by. The location was perfect and close to everything, literally! But the cottage is tucked away on its own little side street and was private. As I mentioned before, I was so pleasantly surprised on how cute the cottage was. They made sure we had everything we needed at this cottage. Couldnt be happier staying here and we will defiantly be back! This cottage is such a little Gem.

We had the best time at the Kemp and Olive Cottage and hope to stay again soon. The house is very clean and adorable and definitely bigger than what the pictures show- it meets any need you might have.
