## Neighborhood
Villeurbanne offers all the advantages of a big city in a greener and calmer environment, with direct proximity to the chic 6th arrondissement and the Part-Dieu district. Whether by metro, tram, or bus, you'll have quick access to all Lyon's neighborhoods thanks to the many public transportation options available. Villeurbanne boasts a vibrant and dynamic neighborhood life: young people, families, and retirees will find numerous cultural structures, sports complexes, associations, shops, schools, high schools, and universities. With a rich cultural heritage, Villeurbanne is home to historic sites such as the Gratte-ciel, the Town Hall, the National Popular Theater, Anatole France School, the House of Books, Images and Sound, Studio 24, the Astroballe (ASVEL), and the former Bayard and Bally factories. The city continues to develop with new neighborhoods, like the Terrain des Sœurs, where our current project Carrare is located.
Culture: With a variety of venues and major events that are welcoming, creative, and unifying, the city has a thriving cultural scene. Public and private theaters (TNP, Théâtre de l’IRIS), the National School of Music, concert venues (Toï Toï Le Zinc and Transbordeur), the IAC (Institute of Contemporary Art), an independent cinema (Zola, retro-style), cultural centers (Rize and CCO), a Ninkasi like in Lyon, the House of Image and Sound (the city's media library), Les Invites, the short film festival, and the youth book festival.
Sports: Many sports facilities and high-level events, with the Astroballe hosting our basketball champions! There are also two large markets (the "Gratte-Ciels" market on Tuesday, Thursday, and especially Saturday; and the fabulous Place Wilson market on Wednesday, Friday, and especially Sunday, where you'll find everything at unbeatable prices in a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere – some even have breakfast on Bettant's terrace while others prefer a glass of red at the outdoor bar).
Some great spots and features of the neighborhood:
The Brotteaux district, typically Lyonnais, with its terraces and festive spots.
The nearby Gratte-Ciels neighborhood, the heart of Villeurbanne, showcases 1930s architecture (Town Hall, TNP...) and many local food shops.
The Puces du Canal: a lovely little Saint-Ouen flea market that offers a refreshing alternative to overpriced hipster second-hand shops on the slopes.
The Transbordeur, arguably the best concert hall in Lyon (this is my personal opinion), is located in Villeurbanne!
A fantastic network of libraries with many events organized throughout the year.
The Institute of Contemporary Art, with cutting-edge exhibitions, is just next door.
The Invites festival, which attracts more and more Lyonnais each year.
The famous Parc de la Tête d'Or and its zoo.
All other Lyon neighborhoods are accessible in less than 15 minutes by public transport.
We make every effort to provide you with the best experience possible. However, please note that the apartment is located in Villeurbanne, in a lively neighborhood. You may hear city noises. Thank you for your understanding.
