Staying in Hood River is a nice alternative to staying in Government Camp - for those who wish to ski at Mt. Hood Meadows, and avoid the traffic, suburbanization, and strip malls on the long drive up the west side. The quiet drive up to the mountain from Hood River is reminiscent of what the drive up the west side used to be like 40 years ago, and helps set the mood for a day of sublime skiing.
For those needing to fill their tanks, there is gas station on the east side of Highway 35 between Hood River and Parkdale with gas that costs 50 cents a gallon less than most other stations.
As for the property itself, coffee addicts are advised to bring thier own espresso machine. Because bedrooms are on the upper floor, but the main source of heat in the house emanates from the lower floor, be sure to leave bedroom doors open at night in the winter to ensure adequate warmth. In any case, warmth in the beds is definitely not a problem, as long as you use the wonderful, thick comforters provided by the owner. The beds are also very comfortable. But the upper floor can be chilly once you step out of bed.
Last but not least, the daily rate for renting this property represents a good value - for Hood River.
