**Please read the "nice to know" details at the bottom of the listing to see if the property is a good fit.
THE SPACE:
The cabin is named the "Steel Nest" with a mix of it's industrial design and peaceful stillness. Tucked away on 10+ acres of wooded grounds, you'll venture up the long driveway to the cabin where you'll feel a sense of seclusion and privacy. Bordered by the national forest to the back of the property, there are no other homes in sight.
SLEEPING:
Both bedrooms are located upstairs. The primary bedroom has high wood beam ceilings, walls of windows with tons of natural light with a comfy king sized bed. The second bedrooms also has tons of natural light and a cozy queen sized bed. There is a large hallway closet with hangers, an iron/ironing board and a clothes steamer. There's also a clothing rack in the primary bedroom.
BATHROOM/s:
Located between the upstairs bedroom is a full bath. A rainfall shower complements the space, which has dual sinks and heated floors. On the main level, there is a half bath located off the living space. There is a door to the outside which leads to the outdoor shower.
PET FRIENDLY:
Furry friend? No problem! Our cabin is dog-friendly, and your furry companion will love roaming around the property (not fenced in). Please note that there is a pet fee to cover additional cleaning and wear and tear.
LIVING SPACE/s:
The main level is an open concept living space and you'll enter the home to see a comfy living area. Sink into the leather sofa and cuddle up at the wood burning fireplace. With radiant floors throughout the home, the space is cozy, even on those cool mountain nights. There are board games, playing cards and some miscellaneous books throughout the cabin. Please note, there is no TV on the main level (there is one TV in the primary bedroom). Just off the living area/dining space is an outdoor screened in porch with seating for 4. Enjoy the indoor - outdoor flow. Open the doors on either side of the fireplace to find an outdoor seating area. Enjoy a cozy evening around the outdoor fireplace with Adirondack chairs and a comfy hanging chair.
KITCHEN/OUTDOOR GRILL:
The space opens to a full kitchen, equipped with all the amenities you'd need to cook up your favorite snack or signature meal. There is an oven with gas burners, microwave, K-cup coffee maker, refrigerator, toaster and small appliances. There are pots and pans, dishware, flatware, utensils, etc. Outside, off the screened in porch there is a propane grill to round out your cooking options (propane is supplied). We supply basic cooking spices and cooking oils as well as a starter pack of K-cups for the Keurig Coffee machine, sugar and creamers.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:
- HOT TUB: Relax and soothe your muscles as you soak in the wooded grounds surrounding you.
- SCREENED IN PORCH: Wake up early and catch the sunrise. Located off the dining space, the mixture of indoor & outdoor blends together with a cozy spot to relax with your favorite beverage or settle in with a good book.
- OUTDOOR SHOWER (seasonal): It's harder to be any closer to nature than you can be with an outdoor shower overlooking the national forest behind you. ** The shower will be on during your stay unless the temperature is expected to dip below 25 degrees, which is common in the winter months. Expect it to be turned off from December through potentially early March.**
- WIFI/ ROKU TV: With Starlink internet, you can stay connected with fast high speed internet or choose to disconnect and embrace the stillness around you. There is a Roku TV in the primary bedroom (no other TVs in the space) to catch up on your favorite shows.
- RADIANT FLOOR HEAT: The entire home is heated with radiant floor heat. The main level is tile and a wonderful surprise when you step on to warm floors. Heat carries to the upstairs and the reclaimed wood floors also have radiant heat, along with the tiled bathroom.
- WOODED GROUNDS: Explore trails without having to leave the property as you'll have plenty of room to roam and explore the wooded grounds.
- NO AIR CONDITIONING: Please note - there is no air conditioning in the cabin. The highlight is that the mountains cool down in the evenings so you'll find there's usually a peaceful breeze as you open the windows. This is a highlight for many, but please be sure you're comfortable with natural fluctuations in temperature. The primary bedroom gets tons of light so can warm up quickly in the afternoons so opening the windows will cool it down, but we're bound to have some heat waves that may lead to some warmer nights.
- LINENS AND SUPPLIES PROVIDED: The beds are made with hotel quality linens and we supply towels, shampoo & conditioner, body wash, hand soap and basic cleaning supplies. We supply paper products, trash bags, dish soap & dishwasher pods, cooking oil and basic seasonings, k-cups of coffee, creamers and sugar. We aim to supply more than enough for a long weekend but if you have specific preferences or are staying for a longer visit please come prepared with extra supplies.
NICE TO KNOW: The cabin is a peaceful retreat - please read the details below to make sure this is a great fit for what you're looking for.
- There is no air conditioning in the cabin. We're in the mountains where weather is mild, but we're bound to have some warm spells in the summer and early fall. Nights typically cool down but if you're uncomfortable with warmer evenings, this may not be your ideal spot. You'll want to open windows to cool down the home when it's warm.
- The cabin was built with reclaimed materials and simplistic design - with that being said - noise does carry in this quaint space and you can hear others from upstairs to the downstairs. There are doors on bedrooms and bathrooms so you'll of course have privacy, but I like to make note that sound carries very easily throughout the cabin. There's plenty of room to accommodate 4 guests but I like to mention the sound carrying as you can hear conversations from floor to floor.
- We drain the hot tub between stays so it may take until the evening of your first night for the temperature to return to it's normal ~102 degree range. If you arrive around 3pm, it may have just been filled so will take until around 8 or 9pm to get back up to temp.
- There is no TV in the living area/downstairs main level. There is a Roku TV in the primary bedroom. There is typically a great WiFi connection with the Starlink internet service so bring your own log ins and enjoy your favorite content.
- There are no window coverings in the cabin. You'll wake up to the natural light each morning. The area is secluded from others and I recommend arriving during daylight to acclimate to the space. The main living area also has no window coverings so arriving in the evening you may feel very exposed but you'll see there are no other homes or structures in sight. There is privacy film on the door in the 1/2 bath which opens to the outdoor shower.
- The location is very rural. You'll drive through farm land and likely see cows and meadows on your way in. It's about 30-35 min to the closest towns for supplies and restaurants. There are working farms all around so you'll sometimes hear tractors or ATVs depending on how the sound is carrying. It's a very peaceful setting and there are things to do in the area but expect to drive ~30+ minutes to hike, get to the river, groceries, restaurants, etc.
- We recommend bringing a bundle or two of wood for the outdoor fireplace and indoor wood burning fireplace.
