A unique lodging experience. A barn turned home. The barn was built in the year 1900. We are located in downtown Spillville, IA. A unique Czechoslovakian town. This barn is part of once was a working farm before the town of Spillville was incorporated in 1920. This barn was once a home to cows, horses and I am sure some chickens. We have the resident "barn cat" Stormy patrolling the property. The living room and master bedroom is in what was once the hay loft. The kitchen is where they parked the tractor at night. The large private back yard was once a corn field. The Turkey River is just a short distance from the private back patio. Bring your kayaks or canoe and drop in right here. You may see deer helping themselves to the neighbors apple trees.
Spillville is a village founded by a German. This town grew into a refuge for Czechs. This small Czech village became a retreat for composer Antonin Dvorak.
Today Spillville is a small town in the northeast corner of Iowa nestled among the soft rolling hills of the Turkey River Valley. A dedicated community of families strive to preserve the rich history, heritage and Czech culture.
