The Silo is a very unique experience, and we invite you to experience it! The Silo is exactly that – a guest room built inside a grain bin. It has all the traditional furnishings of a hotel room – a great bed, table with chairs, refrigerator, and microwave – but it does not have television, running water, or an indoor bathroom. It does have electricity, wi-fi, propane heat, dishes and silverware, BBQ grill with side burner, an outdoor restroom facility (build in a large culvert), and spectacular views.
We provide fresh water, bedding, linens, coffee, and board games, but the environment provides the best experience. If you are lucky, you’ll get to listen to the rain on the tin roof or the coyotes singing on the hills. Some days, our horses roam the property, and every day, our dogs will stop to say hello. In the fall, you'll also hear the elk bugle. But be warned, the wind might wake you with its own loud midnight whistle. In the morning, watch for deer crossing on the hillside, or step across the drive to view the elk and buffalo on the neighbor’s game ranch.
The outdoor bathroom facility includes a pit toilet and a basic solar showering system. We get LTD cell service with T-Mobile from The Silo. The wifi is being extended from the house, so it's strong enough to check your email but not capable of streaming movies or video chatting.
We welcome house trained and well behaved pets (maximum 2). We ask that they do not sleep in the bed or on the furniture, and please do not leave them unattended. Please also clean up doggie doo and sweep up excess pet hair. Please have your pets on a leash to keep them safe from traffic, wild animals, and our own pets. We provide pet bowls and sheets; please bring your own pet bed, food, and other supplies. An additional fee will be charged if excess cleaning is required (ie. pet hair or prints on bedding or couch) or damage is detected (ie. chew marks, scratches, or accidents).
During the summer, you can access the Silo in a 2-wheel drive car, but the roads can get bumpy or muddy quickly (check out the road video by scanning the QR code in the photos)We recommend driving a vehicle with 4-wheel drive in late fall to early spring as the weather can be unpredictable. If you aren't sure, please ask us about the current conditions of the road.
We will send you a reservation confirmation message shortly after you book your stay, and we will send you directions to the silo either the day before or the day of your arrival. If you make your reservation through Expedia, please check your VRBO account and/or email for our messages. Sometimes these messages go to your junk mail, so please check your spam folder too if you haven't heard from us!
