Gardner Residence and Gardens

The 850 sf first floor suite offers one bedroom with one queen sized bed, a 3/4 bath, spacious foyer and a comfortable sitting and dining area. The entrance and all aspects of the suite are handicap accessible. It also offers seasonal availability to a stone patio with a large fire pit and access to 2.4 acres of beautifully manicured lawns and gardens. Your experienced hosts live on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Guests are assured of privacy and tranquility in a setting with exceptional views.

The sitting area provides a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee maker and a full inventory of dishes and utensils. Two large south facing windows give great views of the lawn, flower gardens and Mt Philo. A comfortable loveseat, nautical library and some fun games gives you all you need to relax after a full day.

The Gardner Residence is located 1 mile north of Mt. Philo State Park. Drive or walk to the summit to enjoy a spectacular 180 degree view of Lake Champlain and the New York Adirondack mountain range. Take your camera, the sunsets are incredible. Charlotte beach and Lake Champlain are a delightful 5 minute drive away.

Shelburne Farms and Shelburne Museum are Vermont's #1 tourist attractions and located just 10 minutes away. Numerous casual and fine dining restaurants are within a 5 mile radius. The Gardner Residence rural setting is ideal for long bike rides, hikes up Mt. Philo. paddle boarding on the lake and long walks on country roads. End each day relaxing by the fire pit.

Comfortable, beautiful setting
We stayed for 2 nights and found the rooms comfortable and lovely. We loved the sailing decor and learning about our host's sailing adventures. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and spacious. Lovely view of Mount Philo and the location was convenient to Lake Champlain, Mount Philo state park, Shelburne and Burlington (and the ferry to Essex, NY).

Wash ashore
Gail and Ollie are wonderful hosts, and for this sailor to wash ashore in such a lush landscape/garden setting, all I could do was take it all in. Wonderful accommodating hosts with a beautiful property! Loved the fascinating stories and conversation around the evening fire pit, and the helpful suggestions for touring this gorgeous area. Communication was frequent and easy. Shelburne Museum and Shelburne Farms were great local spots we really enjoyed, as well as the summit view at Mt. Philo State Park. Enjoyed local dining venues Backyard Bistro and Barkeaters and enjoyed both meals immensely. Toured the local towns, and drove to Ben & Jerry’s, Stowe and the Trapp Family lodge. Thank you Oliver and Gayle for a lovely Memorial weekend!

We had a very sweet time enjoying this property. It was very peaceful and quiet. The pool table was a wonderful surprise. Unfortunately, while we were there, it was raining so we didn't get to enjoy the Gardens much, but they were beautiful.

What a pleasant experience! Oliver and Gayle were more than accommodating and the apartment and grounds were so beautiful! Make sure you climb Mount Philo just down the street and eat at BarkEaters which is a few miles down the road. Ten out of ten would recommend!!

This property was incredible. Beautiful peaceful area. The landscaping around the house was phenomenal. All the rooms were super clean and better looking than any hotel. The owner was super friendly and very accommodating. He also gave very good information about places to visit in the area. The price was also very reasonable. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Very nice, peaceful, and comfortable place
This property suited our 3 night stay for exploring the Burlington area. A short drive away from hiking, biking, scenic views, good food, and general scouting around. The hosts were friendly, interesting, welcoming, and engaging. The private porch and side patio were relaxing. The house was clean - actually spotless. We would definitely stay here again on the next visit to the area.
