« Appreciated the quiet surroundings, the fire and the provision of the pre-cut logs and pine cones, the comfortable beds, the quality of the crockery, cutlery and utensils. The weather on the Saturday was hot, dry with not a cloud in sight so we fished from the wharf, which was only a few minutes away, and were rewarded with large trevally - caught on squid bait. « This was a great place to chill out, with a wonderful outlook over Aotea Harbour and very quiet at this time of year (end April). Neat and clean with very a well equipped kitchen. It was comfortable for our stay but expect it could get very hot in summer, and be cold in winter (only one small panel heater for a large space). »

« My wife and I stayed at Whale Bay Surf Bach for 4 nights in April and agreed it was one of the best stays we have ever had. The location and views are incredible. Nothing beats checking the surf from your bed, taking a private entrance to one of the best breaks in the country, and then relaxing in the jacuzzi with ocean views. The property itself was very clean and had all the right amenities. Hope to return again soon! »

"DÉCEVANT!!! L’hôtel est délabré, très vieux. Pas insonorisé du tout. Dans la rue d’en bas, c’est la fête tous les soirs du week-end, les personnes crient, font du bruit avec leur voiture, des bagarres, la police, … On n’a pas dormi du tout. Dès le hall d’entrée c’est la déception. Rideaux délavés, tapis moisis, murs sales. Ça ne vaut pas du tout un 4 étoiles. C’est plutôt un motel. Il faut absolument revoir le classement de cet « hôtel ». "
