Take your beach umbrella and chairs to spend the day at the family friendly beach...just steps from the front porch. Refresh after a day at the beach with the outdoor shower. Enter into the tiled mudroom to change and shower. Dine in..fully equipped kitchen, dining room seats eight comfortably. OR.. walk 3 blocks to restaurants/shopping district . Relax in the casual LR with comfy furniture and game table. Two new queen/ two twin pillow top beds in 3 BRs complete the day! Linens provided. Sleeps 6. The house has been lovingly updated, keeping it's original charm. Freshly painted and decorated in beach colors and themes, providing a clean, restful atmosphere. Guest Amenities/information: Guest departure cleaning is provided by a professional housekeeping service. The home has been approved by the town's safety code inspector with certificate issued and is located in our Welcome Binder. Additional pamphlets /info are available in our home as well as at the new Welcome Center south of town on Rt.13 near the CBBT.

Surrounding area/places to visit: The beach is located 100 yards from our front door. The town's fishing pier, shops and restaurants, public library, post office and places of worship are just a few blocks away. Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses, open to the public, with pro-shop and 'Coach House' restaurant are a 2-3 min.drive. The marina with 'Oyster Farm' restaurant and shops are located at the opposite end of town. Driving S on Rt.13 you will find a Food lion grocery store, ABC store, Dollar General, McDonald's and various businesses unique to the area. Kiptopeke state park, a National wild life refuge, and new Welcome center are located close to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Crossing the CBBT is Virginia Beach and Norfolk/Int. airport (35-40 min), Botanical Gardens. Newport News airport, Historic Williamsburg/Busch Gardens (1-1 1/2 hrs) on Rt. 64 from Cape Charles. Chincoteague-Assateague, and Tangier Island are north on highway 13, making these great day trips! Explore the eastern shore or just relax on the beach!!

This house has so much charm! It was very clean, so comfortable, and just perfect for a weekend getaway in beautiful Cape Charles! The owner was incredibly responsive and courteous. We will definitely stay here again!

Charming home and town
We enjoyed our first time in Cape Charles and hope to go back to spend more time. This rental is a very charming older home in a neighborhood filled with the same! The home had everything we needed inside and landscaping and w wonderful front porch to enjoy outside. Loved that we could park the car and walk to shops, restaurants and to the beach. Looking forward to another visit.

This property is located within an easy walk of the beach and the shops and restaurants in Cape Charles. It was clean and well cared for. The check in and check out process was easy and clearly explained by the owners. The owners were responsive and easy to communicate with. We would recommend a stay!

Fun Girls Getaway
My friend and I rented the Bay Cottage for a relaxing fun weekend in Cape Charles. This was our first visit to the area. The location is great, not even a block to the beach. We were able to park the car Friday and walked all over town and didn't get back in the car until we left. The water pressure in the shower is fantastic. The house was clean when we arrived. Loved sitting on the front porch talking. Visiting Cape Charles was fun. There are several unique shops and restaurants and friendly people.

Such a hidden gem!! Perfect location!
My sister's and I had a girls weekend.. Such a wonderful small town. Lovely area. Love being able to walk everywhere. We did some shopping, enjoyed the breweries, restaurants, we had a blast!! Looking forward to going back!

Beautiful stay!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! It is much cuter in person than the pictures showed. Overall, the place was clean and we had all the amenities we needed during our stay. Mr. Rick called to check on us during our first day and that was appreciated. And, the close walk to the beach and shops was great. The front porch was our favorite place to drink coffee and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Quick little trip with my husband and it was just right. Communication with owner was clear and concise. Breakfast @ Rayfield's, dinners at The Shanty and Deadrise Pizza were all good choices during our stay. We would definitely like to return during the warmer months to take full advantage of the close proximity to the water.

Delightful beach house
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this beach house. Located right across the street from the beach this house perfect place for a summer beach vacation. We were 4 adults and two kids ages 3 & 5. There was plenty of room to relax either on the screened in porch or the livingroom after a day on the beach. The kitchen was well stocked and the diningroom has plenty of seating. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Located close to a park for kids as well as lots of restaurants and shops. There was plenty to like about this house!

Beautiful House
This house is beautiful, looks like it has a lot of original details. It made a wonderful setting for our family to relax together. We had a small issue with the lights, and the owners were fantastic. They responded immediately, helped us fix the problem, and even sent an electrician to make sure everything was safe (he said it was likely a manufacturing issue with a lightbulb- no problems with the house). We had an excellent time, and hope to get back there soon!

Bay View Beauty Cottage
This was the perfect sized cottage for my daughter and her two sons ( 9 years and 10 years old). It is a quaint cottage style with all your basic needs. Having front and back screened porches is such nice convenient features. We used the back porch for all the beach equipment and the front porch for relaxing and quiet morning coffee times. Bring your favorite DVD’s and games for rainy day entertainment. We had a wonderful time at the Bay View Beauty.

Lovely home close to the beach
We enjoyed a "girl's weekend" get-together with old friends, and were able to cook at "home" in this very clean and welcoming house. There were five of us ladies there and we had plenty of room to sit and read, chat and have dinner together, just a few blocks from the beach. As mentioned, there is no wifi, and most of us didn't have cell service inside, so it was a true getaway. We enjoyed being able to walk to the shops nearby, and had a lovely weekend.

Comfortable & Close to Beach
Everything was as nice as you would hope. I do wish, though, that it had been prominently stated that there was no WiFi or internet. In our many vacation rental experiences we have never seen this. Otherwise it was a wonderful week.

Lovely old house, and porch, location to town and beach, great. Lack of cooling downstairs, a problem. Had to borrow fans from friends who live in town. Also, lack of space to store food in kitchen.

Over 300 family members rented for this wedding. Most rentals were up dated, this unit is very tired. Poor mattress in all rooms, a sign on every item, directions on every item. Tub was not used, lots of rest etc. on the back of the tup. Very old (low) toilets - the owner should not list two bathrooms. A positive - location to beach,

Nice place for a small group. The place was super clean but my only complaint is that they would’ve had small convenience items like body wash or soap, and one major item, COFFEE! I’m not looking for hotel type amenities but in town there wasn’t anywhere to get these items before 8 a.m. so it was tough for an early riser. Furniture was a little mismatched and awkward in dining room and living room had slip covers, could use some small easy updates. A mile long list of don’ts hanging on the fridge and living room tv made it tough to feel welcomed., I think The informational booklet was enough. Plus was very close to beach, and a very clean place to stay, and the owners communication was very good and timely. Overall it was a nice stay.

Charming, Clean, Cozy - but beware no Wi-Fi
I have stayed in Cape Charles many times, but this was our first visit to this property. The house was charming, clean, and in a great location. The hosts were extremely communicative, easy to reach, and very thorough. The welcome binder details everything you need to know. If you have small children, just be aware that it is very nicely decorated, i.e. many things your child could accidentally grab off a table or break. There is no high chair available, so be sure to bring your own if you need one. Unlike some other reviews, I did not find the notes to be intrusive, but rather very helpful for a smooth stay. My oldest daughter really enjoyed watching the VHS tapes, she had never seen one before! The reason I gave this property a lower review was the lack of Wi-Fi. I have no idea why a property in an area with known spotty cell phone coverage would not provide Wi-Fi, this is a basic service in 2022. The hosts do not make this apparent until you have already paid and cannot get a refund. It is in the fine print of the listing. Your hot spot will not work if you do not have cell service, as many do not in Cape Charles. This was a safety issue for my family with young children as there is not even a landline provided in case of emergencies. For this reason, we will not be returning. It’s clear they will respond to my review by saying to use a hot spot or public wifi at the library, but this is unacceptable for the cost of the rental. I have informed the hosts of this issue via email.
