"This was our first time staying in Cannon Beach as a family, despite being PNW natives. I wanted a new experience and remembered enjoying Cannon Beach as a kid, plus we wanted a room right on the ocean and a nicer hotel than some of the popular beaches offer. This did not disappoint! The hotel is nicely renovated, the staff are wonderful, polite, attentive and professional. Our room was very clean despite being one of the King patio rooms (easy to track sand into), and every thing in the room worked as it should. I had doubts about the pull-out couch since they're rarely comfy or desirable, but our kids slept great with no complaints. The pool is decent enough to entertain kids for a few hours after a day on the beach and walking in town, and my husband I loved being able to sit in the green space outside our room with a drink at sunset. The only improvement I can think of is the adjoining restaurant, the Wayfarer. While we loved there was a room service option, the dinner menu didn't have anything for kids and no casual option like a burger or appetizer. The lunch menu has items that would have been great at 9 pm. We didn't try the breakfast, but should have because 2 of the three nearby coffee shops were closed and the other was wiped out of food - just an FYI if you have kids needing a quick bite before heading out for the day. All that said, we will absolutely stay here again and can't wait for another trip! The Surfsand is a gem!"

"The property was right on the waterfront, near the boat harbor. Though we didn't take advantage of the riverwalk due to the rain, we loved waking up to the view. The room was nice and comfortable. There were robes for us to use (we didn't) and actual glasses, both for water and wine, instead of those flimsy paper or plastic disposable cups. There was half and half for the coffee, not those packets with dry creamer. It would have been more quiet, but it was across from the elevator and our wall abutted the stairs. What we did did not like was that the breakfast area was hugely insufficient for a hotel with so many rooms (75, I believe). The breakfast area had about 8 or 9 tables in a tiny space. Not all guests were using common courtesy to give up their table once they finished. Some folks were clearly done, but on their phones or just dawdling. The food looked like it was good, you just couldn't quite get to it. "
