Beware, so many bad things
From indoor mice and flies to brown smelly water, to rotten food in cabinets, to no cell coverage, and more, this place needs a lot of help.
The place is dirty. There was some rotten food in one of the cabinets that had been there a LONG time to the point that fruit flies were all over the place. There were dirty cabinets, old dusty cobwebs in the corners of the rooms, scummy interior of the fridge. My mother drew a bath and brown water came out of the faucet.
The place is smelly. It has sulfur water which you cannot drink. If you rent this place, be sure to bring plenty of bottled water. The owners told us this but not until the day of travel, so it was difficult for me to prepare. The smell is very pronounced when running the dishwasher throughout the entire place. Bring scented candles or something like that. I did not shower the entire weekend because the water gets into your skin, and you can’t shake it.
The place is not working correctly. The window crank in the kitchen was broken. Not too much of a problem since the weather wasn’t too cold. The fireplace flue was not working properly. Smoke from our fire got into the apartment and resulted in headaches and poor sleeping for our group. I would be cautious about having fires because perhaps the chimney hasn’t been swept in a long while and it could be dangerous.
There is no cell coverage. Again, we were not told this until the day of travel. You are instructed to use Wi-Fi calling for phone calls but I didn’t know how to do this and I had to arrange this with my carrier ahead of time which I couldn’t. And of course, when the power went out (which it did on our first night) there is no possible way to communicate with the outside world.
The straw that broke the camels back was the mouse that ran across the living room floor on Saturday night! Not much more to say there.
Communication with the owner was poor as well. I reached out to the contact as instructed by EVOLVE to request the keyless entry info and they didn’t respond twice for over a week. I then tried calling twice and finally received the info. It would have been fine if they responded and said that they would send the info later but to have no response left me nervous prior to the trip.
