"What a wonderful place, very beautiful and relaxing. Accommodation absolutely top notch, staff even better. Having stayed in several highly rated 5 star hotels during our month long tour of India we felt this to be the best. If you're looking for the backwater experience in true comfort and style then this gives you that. We hired a day boat which picked us up from the bottom of the garden. "The waterfront view was exceptional from the balcony. The staff were helpful and eager to please all round. However, the room house keeping was less than optimal. On one day the room cleaning was missed entirely even when the “Please clean the room” sign was on display all day outside the room. That said, we still plan to return to Niraamaya Resort Kumarakom in the future."

"One of the worst hotel experiences so far. No toilet rolls - had to wait for 1 hr 10 min and 4 phone calls to get it. dirty bedsheets and towels. no breakfast even after waiting for an hour. had to leave the hotel with other guests to some place outside to get breakfast. and no refund for the same. there are many better options in that area. this one is just a disgrace to india tourism."

"This hotel is a gem. The rooms are clean, well appointed and spacious with fabulous furnishings. We ate at the restaurant which offered a range of delicious dishes and spent time around the pool. The staff are a delight, always smiling and eager to cater for every guest. The only comment i would make is that there is not much in the area, but if you're looking for a deserted beach or if you have transport, then this really isn't a problem."

But remember that you are in a resort- best to go out and do some local shopping to get a real feel for the area.
