"Vastly over-priced for what is effectively an old single-room storefront(?) turned into a youth hostel. Five beds in a single room, with wallpaper peeling off, and all sorts of weird attempts at “renovation.” For the price, could be good for five backpackers. "The rooms were excellent, the craftsmanship excellent, the ambience excellent, Service was excellent. The only thing I would recommend, especially if it’s a last minute reservation, work with the owners on transportation. If you want to stay out late in Nozawa, they will work with you, but it’s hard to get a taxi back, especially on the weekends later at night. You might have to end up walking haha 😂"

"長岡大花火大会の際に夫婦で利用しました。長岡駅からは新幹線で一駅の浦佐駅から徒歩3分ほどの立地で便利です。また、浦佐駅前にはコンビニもあり助かりました。ホテルの施設は古い為、ウォシュレットは付いてなく、また冷蔵庫も小さい為、たくさんの食料品はは入りません。冷凍庫はないので不便な点もあります。シャンプーがリンスインのタイプですが日本人の髪質には合わなくて、髪の毛がクシ通りが悪かなるので、コンディショナーを持参することをおすすめします。エアコンの効き具合は良かったです。フロントスタッフの方は優しい対応してくれました。"

Beautiful ryokan with private onsen options

"This is a very beautiful ryokan. It has gone through renovations so the interior is new and modern, but it has also retained the charms of a ryokan with tatami floors, indoor gardens etc. The room is very big and well heated. I wish I had more time to hang around the ryokan! We had a half board, which includes dinner and breakfast. There was a good spread of local food, I got to try quite a few new food items that I haven't had before. A private onsen can be booked for an additional charge, about 3300 yen - Great for travellers who prefer or are unable to use the public bath. The ryokan is located almost right in the middle of Kusatsu onsen where all the shops and attractions are. The only unfortunate experience we had was communication with the staff regarding parking. When we checked in, the staff told us that we would be able to extend our parking at their premises for a few hours beyond the default time of 12pm by topping up for another day's worth of parking fees. However, on the day of the checkout, another staff told us that it was impossible to extend. Not an unpleasant experience, but it would be better the staff were on the same page."

Michelin star hotel with great staff

"Staff were friendly with many different nationality so meaning no issues for foreigners to stay in.. The hotel is nicely & newly renovated with Ski lifts just at the side of the hotel. We stayed for 5 nights and everything was just great throughout our stay! Will definitely stay again when we return. Thank you for taking good care of us ^^"

"Very closed to the bus station, which was about 5 mins walk. The hotel is building with old architecture, but with modern updates. It was an easy check-in process. Our room was really nice and spacious. The room was clean, but my blank had a small stain on the blanket. The wifi is really good. There is a public onsen on the lower floor for guests to enjoy. We reserved a 45 mins private onsen for 3200 yen. It was well worth it! The room was roomy and clean. It has a private shower and bathroom. The we enjoyed our private onsen. Very relaxing. Highly recommend. Some tips. Don't walk in the hotel with your shoes or sneakers. There are sandals that you can walk outside the streets with. It's located in the lockers with the keys when you entered the hotel. If you want to walk around the hotel you can walk with your socks or the staff can you give a sandals. Breakfast is a buffet. Limited selections, and you have to make a time slot rsvp. They bar closed around 10pm. We loved our one night stayed. We would come back again!"

"We loved it here. The resort is amazing. The room was a good size. The view was fantastic. Close to the Yubatake, Kusatsu Gate foot bath, restaurants, and markets. They have a free shuttle to the center of town, Yubatake. Also, a shuttle to the bus stop when you go back. Plus, the free big onsen is amazing. You can also use two other hotels' onsens, but Kusatsu Onsen Hotel Resort's is the biggest and nicest. They provide a yukata for use while you're there, which is nice if you want to take pictures outside in a yukata. The staff are all super friendly and nice. We loved this place."
