Los Angeles’ one-stop shop for dining, entertainment and shopping is The Grove. It was built at the beginning of the 21st century and has become one of southern California’s most popular outdoor malls.
Most people visit The Grove to go shopping with its 40 varied stores, it is easy to see why. Visit the anchor stores of Nordstrom and Crate & Barrel as well as several flagship stores including Topshop and Apple. After shopping, enjoy a meal at one of The Grove’s many restaurants. Select from well-known chains and local establishments.
Take a break from shopping and watch a film at the movie theater located in The Grove. This multiplex shows a variety of new releases throughout the day. You can’t help but tap your foot along with the Dancing Fountain, located in the center of the Grove near the movie theater. On the hour, jets of choreographed water dance to the tunes of classic hits.
Look for The Spirit of Los Angeles, the focal point of The Grove and a symbol of the city. The bronze statue, which consists of a male and a female angel soaring to the heavens, represents the dreams that can be realized in Los Angeles.
Find The Grove located next to the Farmers Market, a Los Angeles institution that has delighted shoppers since 1934. Browse through its airy stalls, stocked with local produce, gourmet groceries and unique wares. Hop on the free Grove Trolley to get between The Grove and the Farmers Market.
Attend The Grove’s annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in mid-November, a huge event in Los Angeles that attracts top musical talent.
Check The Grove’s website for opening hours. You’ll find plenty of on-site parking. Rates are very reasonable if you get your parking validated by vendors in the mall.
The Grove is in the Fairfax District of western Los Angeles. This historically Jewish neighborhood is a wonderful mix of old and new, where traditional shops stand next to hip establishments in perfect harmony.
