The Cottage Haven - Nestled In The Heart Of Wine Country And Horse Country

Perfect, private get-a-way for 2 or small group, truly in the heart of wine country. Our Cottage was featured on FYI's Tiny House Hunting- season 3, episode 8! This property is surrounded by the wine country trail, and just down the road from South Coast Winery. Also down the road, is the popular horse country, including the soccer and polo fields at Galway downs.

The Temecula wine country has been a growing destination vacation for horse lovers, wine tasters, weddings, hot air balloon enthusiasts as well as cyclists. And even if you don't enjoy any of these things, the open countryside is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of city living.

The Cottage Haven is a darling guest house on our 5 acre ranch with it's own private entrance. Our family stays busy in the main house but you will have your privacy away from the main house in the cottage. Modern cottage decor, full kitchen, and the sound of whispering pines are just a few of the amenities you will enjoy. In the upstairs loft, your friends or children can enjoy the treetop views from the 2 twin beds. (Please note: the stairs to the loft are attic stairs-See photo)

Enjoy a picnic on your own private lawn or practice your soccer skills on the front soccer field/lawn. Sit by the shared pool with a glass of wine and a good book and enjoy the quiet countryside and the sound of the breeze blowing through the huge pine trees that surround you.

Horse lovers can pull your trailer on the property and coral their horses in our 16x30 feet horse pen with shade. You will also meet our labradoodle family members that roam the ranch as well.

We moved our family to this wine country property over 12 years ago from Orange County and have never regretted it! We love the beautiful landscape out here and the peaceful and starry nights. And even though we are in the country, we are literally 5 minutes to Ralph's, Sprouts Market, Baron's, Starbucks, Great Harvest, Corner Bakery, Best Buy, Big 5 and Super Walmart!

Even though this cottage has a full kitchen, we would love to recommend delicious places to eat including restaurants at the local wineries...We've tried them all!

Beautiful cottage.
Beautiful cottage. A few things to help improve would be to have wash cloths for showering, better toilet paper. Also I would suggest blowing off the entry points to cottage to keep debris from entering and for overall aesthetics. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Girls Holiday get away
We loved our stay at the cottage. Joe and Shari were great hosts and checked in with us when we arrived and throughout the weekend. The cottage looks as if it is professionally decorated and looked very festive with holiday decor. We enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit with a cup of coffee in the morning and at night the hot tub was nice after wine tasting. This spot is the perfect location to stay if doing a wine tasting tour and an easy Uber ride back at night.

A chance to wine
This is a very cozy little cottage. The surroundings are private and tranquil but shops/wineries/dining and the Heritage Rose Garden are all within easy driving distance.a Would reintegrate as noted in the listing that the stairs to the second floor sleeping area are indeed attic stairs. They are steep and shallow with only one hand rail so carrying luggage to the room is tricky if like us, you are seniors. Our hosts were very responsive and helpful. My friend and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Really, Temecula Valley is a hidden gem.

Cute little cottage.
This is a cute cottage and great location. Owners very responsive. Very glad to have access to the pool/patio to lounge in as this is a small place. This is a better place for a long weekend than an extended stay. If you are coming for the wine country, be sure to check out the online SIP Passport!

Perfect spot
I came for a wedding at a nearby winery. Not only was the location perfect, the little bungalow was the perfect place for me to stay. It was immaculate and had everything I needed for my two nights. The hosts were amazing at communication and making sure everything was there that I needed. I would surely come and stay at this again. They are amazing Hosts on an amazing property. I’m very grateful for my stay, thank you I want to come back

Cozy and clean
The Cottage was cozy and comfortable and perfect for a small family. The kitchen was well stocked and also came with an ample supple of coffee. This enjoyable cute and cozy cottage is close to wineries, Old Town and is a little Temecula secret. I will come back when I visit my family

Girls Getaway
Four female friends out for a long weekend getaway and wine drinking! This cottage had everything we needed, was a super clean and stylish! Our hosts, Joe and Shari, were quick to respond to questions and gave us great restaurant and happening recommendations. Beds were very comfortable, and the hot tub was divine! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, and close to the wineries so we could Uber without a huge expense! Absolutely would recommend and would definitely return here! Only one bathroom so be prepared to share if there are more than two of you!

Wish I could have stayed longer
What a fantastic place! I wish we were able to stay longer. The cottage is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Joe ensured our arrival was smooth and was very responsive. The dogs were very friendly and greeted us as well :-) All in all a wonderful haven close to the vineyards. I look forward to my return trip someday. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Wonderful weekend at the Cottage
We booked the Cottage Haven for the weekend to attend a family gathering in Temecula. We are so happy we stayed in the cottage and not in a hotel. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and very cozy. We had everything we needed for our stay and more. Joe and Shari are great hosts. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for a relaxing weekend near the Temecula wineries. I definitely look forward to coming back again.

Girls Winery Getaway
3 girlfriends came to Temecula to wine taste and see a concert at South Coast Winery. The cottage was as described but also exceeded expectations. Gorgeous property and wonderful hosts! We arrived early and the hosts allowed to access the cottage early. We were able to use the beautiful pool and met Shari (the owner) who was super nice and even gave us a bottle of their family wine! Everything was clean and even supplied a can of bug repellent for our use. We will definitely come back to the Cottage Haven!

Amazingly Adorable Cottage
We are so glad that we booked this property for my sister's wedding weekend. It was only about ten minutes from her wedding venue location, which was so much better than the nearest hotel. It was the perfect place for her to have downtime with her maid of honor the night before her wedding. She liked it so much that she and her husband even decided to stay there after their wedding reception. The owners made things very easy and were very accommodating. Would recommend to anyone looking for an easy, cozy, relaxing getaway.

Great Winter Retreat
My wife and I stayed for four weeks at the Cottage Haven. Wonderful, helpful hosts. Location is right in the heart of Temecula Valley wine country, yet only 10 minutes from shopping and restaurants in Temecula, 70 minutes to San Diego, about the same to Palm Springs. The cottage was so delightful and restful we didn't leave much. I made real progress on a book I am writing sitting outside on the patio everyday. Only regret we have is that we couldn't stay for two months.

Beautiful cottage
My husband and I spent two nights here at The Cottage. We drove over from Arizona to check out the wine country. Staying at the cottage was a real treat. The owner met us when we arrived and showed us to the property. The cottage was just adorable. Perfect for the two of us but definitely room for another couple or 2 kids. The layout and size was perfect and the decor was very well done. Great location for wineries and downtown/old town. Definitely recommend Pedego electric bikes for touring wine country. Looking forward to coming back here for another visit/stay.

Adorable Cottage in a Great location.
Joe & Shari's cottage is perfectly located in Temecula's Wine Country. A short drive to everything. We drove to some places and we Ubered to others. The cottage is well decorated and clean. Upon arrival, we hit a grocery store and we were set for the long weekend. After a full-day of winery touring with Temecula Black Car, we relaxed in the full-size pool and hot tub that are located right outside the back door. A great way to spend a long weekend. Thanks, Joe & Shari, for a wonderful time.

Delightful Oasis
Cottage Haven lives up to it’s name. Comfy, cozy, and quite chic . . This cottage offers everything one would want as an escape into wine country. Shari and Joe are generous hosts and clearly, an engaging couple that warmly welcomes guests to enjoy all the beauty that surrounds their stunning home and magnificent grounds. The cottage is well equipped to unwind and relax after a day of touring the countryside and stopping along the way to select some amazing spirits. Shari was so gracious and spent time chatting with us each day. For doodle lovers, be prepared for some furry, fluffy love. Such a great experience. We want to visit again and again. ☺️☺️ Linda and Tom, Annapolis Maryland

Disliked: Cleanliness, communication, listing accuracy
NOT AS ADVERTISED
We came for a 4 night stay for a family wedding at South Coast Winery & left the next day. Unfortunately, the property was not as advertised so maybe ask the hosts if these issues have been fixed before making your decision on renting. One of the main reasons we chose this house over "The Romantic 1 Bedroom Villa" Guest House on VRBO was because of the Hot Tub and the Pool. At the end of Sept the hot tub was our main want over the pool. The hot tub was unusable & not at all like the photos. It was low on water with duct tape all over the upper jets. The filters visibly dirty & the chemical dispenser on top of the filter was not under water so the water had no chemical in it. We only investigated this because of the horrible smell, visible algae & black mold on the valves. The bottom was full of dirt and sand along with bugs and debris stuck to the pump intake screen. We never did get in but we did test the jets and tons of ants came out of the air intake knobs upon turning the system on. The outside bar area was covered with the hosts personal belongings, a shop vac, pool chemicals, door mats etc. The grill was so full of packed grease that nothing would drain while cooking. The patio area was very dirty & covered in bird droppings including the table & chairs. Our main issue over the hot tub being unusable was the spiders & spider webs inside. We killed 5 spiders in the first 8 hours of being in the house. The webs were everywhere and we could feel them on our arms/legs.

Amazingly wonderful place to stay
My wife, two daughters and I were attending a week long conference in Murrieta and needed a place to stay that had a full kitchen due to food allergies, and we found a place that had that and much more! We had more than enough space for the four of us and the country location could not have been any more perfect. Living in the concrete jungle of Phoenix we thoroughly enjoyed spending the week in the beautiful countryside in this wonderful cottage. We had an added bonus with the two property dogs, Tyson and Molly, who provided our girls with hours of entertainment. They were at the door to greet us in the morning and at the gate when we returned nightly from the conference. It was like having childcare provided! :) We will definitely stay here again if we come back to the area and we are recommending The Cottage Haven to another family that will be coming to the area later this year for a conference.

Perfect Never Never Land Cottage
We couldn't have had a better or homier experience anywhere. The cottage is decorated and equipped with everything to welcome you and your children. The upstairs is truly a haven for children and the added outdoor activities will create a lifetime of favorite memories. We were greeted with fresh oranges ripe off their own tree and fresh roses. It was a perfect location to bond with our grandchildren and their parents who live about 10 miles away. It was an amazing feel of privacy and we could read by the pool in between kiddie visits. We walked along dogs horses and grove trees daily and had little time left to visit the fabulous wineries and old town Temecula as we routinely wanted to. Too comfortable maybe in our doll house. Thank you for everything. I know we will return. Joe was beyond accommodating to our needs.

Great secluded getaway in wine country
We stayed here for our first vacation with our 3 month old. This relaxing small home was the perfect little spot for us. We went out to eat for all of our meals, although the kitchen seemed capable of handling a home cooked meal. The Keurig came in clutch for those early mornings that the baby would wake us. We didn't think we would use the pool since it is shared with the main house, but we never heard a peep from them so we felt as though the backyard was ours. We loved the pool which doesn't seem to be deeper than 5 feet at its deepest. The ladder to the second floor were a little wobbly, but it was more funny than scary. The dogs were so friendly on the couple of occasions we did get to see them. They were very sweet with our little 3 month old and we never felt uncomfortable, they didn't bother us and only approached us when we would call them over. Overall we loved this little home and would definitely consider staying here again if we come back with a small group.

Wonderful, Attention to Every Detail!
My wife, 5-year-old son, and I stayed at Cottage Haven for a weekend while we were in town for a wedding, and we had a wonderful time. We've stayed at a lot of vacation rentals, and we've never been to one where the owners showed more attention to detail. All of the basics were there: comfortable, nicely decorated, well-stocked kitchen, cozy living areas, thoroughly clean, comfortable bed and nice bedding. But, what really stood out were the small details: the air conditioning had been turned on in advance due to the heat; there were fresh flowers throughout the house; soft music was playing when we arrived; fresh towels had been set out by the pool. These were all small things, but they made us feel welcome. The cottage itself was beautiful. It's small but felt extremely roomy. And, the overhead loft, which opens out to the living room and has two beds, is ideal for kids. Our son really enjoyed hanging out in the loft. We loved the location as well. It's relatively far away from downtown (about 10 mins) by Temecula standards, but it's only minutes away from many of the local wineries. It's great for having easy access to town but feeling like you're out in the country. One consideration for families: the pool is directly out the back door of the cottage. Our son is pool safe, and we did not feel that additional safety measures were necessary, but this is worth noting for visitors with little ones. A great stay in every way! We will definitely stay here if we find ourselves in Temecula again.

This little cottage was very nice, clean and cozy. The decor was festive and we appreciated the beautiful Christmas tree. Four sisters were comfortable, felt safe and location was close to wine country, downtown Temecula, restaurants and stores. The backyard was very nice with plenty of places to sit or lounge. The jacuzzi was a plus! It was well stocked with everything you need. The stairs are a bit steep and I highly recommend the microwave be moved from on top of the refrigerator to the counter. We really enjoyed our stay at this adorable cottage and will be back.
