I will review this property in bullet points due to insufficient space.
-5 star, luxurious accomodation
-Beautiful decor, inc. paintings & furniture
-Chef Chris, star of the hotel, friendly & welcoming, goes out of his way
-Delicious breakfast, warm croissants, toast & fruit salad
-Pines Executive Suit-warm, clean, homely
-Loved the bath, spacious shower & comfortable bed
-attention to detail in all areas of the lodge
- @ $744 a night, expected extraordinary service instead Gary the owner was hostile
-Paid fully through Expedia before arriving at the lodge, showed Gary (owner) my booking
-Gary, said to me "Are you aware of the tariffs this accomodation incurs?-rude
-Owner offered a glass of wine which was never given, small detail but significant for a "luxury" accom.
-Breakfast the next morning, Gary said to me that his bank card went missing and I thought what does this have to do with me? And then told me that he had actually found it. I believe he was trying to make me uncomfortable. He didn't make an effort to make small talk, so it was weird.
-At breakfast, harassed me, regarding details of my debit card as he stated that he didn't know how to access the payment from Expedia (interesting since he has lots of reviews of people who have obviously booked through Expedia)- inappropriate since we were trying to enjoy our breakfast, there's a time & place.
-Complained to Expedia, Gary denied. He tried to call, we were over it.
