"We spent 5 nights at Sun Siyam and we had a wonderful time, including a fantastic Nee Year’s Eve party. The staff were fantastic and so friendly. They looked after our little boy like royalty! "I had been looking forward to stay in this place for quite some time but my experience and expectations was so different. The atmosphere of the location is fantastic. The hotel is very old. Had a bad smell in the room which was so unpleasant and uncomfortable to breathe in. Not suitable for asthma and allergy sufferers. Air conditioner was not working properly. "We greatly enjoyed our stay at this Resort. It was right on the beach, the room was beautiful, and the staff amazingly helpful. There did seem to be an everlasting towel shortage while we were there but the staff were friendly and helpful in ensuring this caused as little inconvenience as possible. I would highly recommend getting a ground level beach facing room! "

"Needed a hotel in the Polonnaruwa area so we could tour the ruins in the early part of the morning but also wanted to have a swimming pool to cool off in after the tour & here fitted the request for both . "This is a beautiful and tranquil place to stay. The rooms are excellent, the food wonderful, the staff incredibly accommodating and the natural habitat in which the Other Corner is situated forms perfect backdrop gor wildlife including a birds. The resident wildlife and naturalist Dhilip is a fount of knowledge and made the stay even better. The organic garden and lake are also a bonus. The Other Corner makes an excelllent base for touring the national parks, ancient cities and Sigiriya."

Not worth for the money

"I had been looking forward to stay in this place for quite some time but my experience and expectations was so different. The atmosphere of the location is fantastic. The hotel is very old. Had a bad smell in the room which was so unpleasant and uncomfortable to breathe in. Not suitable for asthma and allergy sufferers. Air conditioner was not working properly. Not much facilities in the room to keep your belongings. Room was very small compared to other hotels around. Washroom doors were so hard to open and close and make huge noise. Sleep was so awful. The hotel is located in the Tamil speaking region but only singhalese were used to greet. Either they use English or use both the national language. The manager on every meeting starts his conversation in Singhalese. They need to treat both the national language equally or else use English. Overall it’s overpriced and not worth for the money. It’s expensive compared to other hotels around but not value for the money. I sincerely request the Hotels.com to review this place before applying the price. I was totally disappointed with the entire experience and stay at this place. "

"The food was average. Last day of our stay we went for breakfast and when we came back to our room there was a small snake slithering under our bed which freaked us out. Not sure whether the snake was there overnight! Luckily we were checking out otherwise we would have left right away! "
