Authentic Perfection
We could not have asked for better accommodations or host.
The home is very comfortable and it was easy to cook and enjoy easy living when we weren’t enjoying the variety of bars and restaurants in the village. The home is nestled into the residential heart of the historic town so you will get a sense of authentic Zlarin living.
Our host Sinisea (pronounced Sin-E-sha) was beyond hospitable and strives for providing 120% service but delivers 120,000% and beyond. He is a man in the know so anything you need please just ask. If it is possible it will happen. He is a colorful character with a heart of gold. The splendor of our trip would not have been made possible without him.
Not to be missed in town is the main church. Whether you understand Slavic or not, the service is moving, inspirational and lovely. Give generously when the basket is passed. There are a number of renovations and repairs that need to be made there and the other historical church buildings on the island. And understand it is beyond a “church” in traditional means. Not only is the Priest Spominko an integral part of the community doing important work, but he is also a friend first to all that meet him.
Lastly, explore the island. It is very natural and has olive groves, forests, former town ruins and a variety of places to swim.
