Private Family Home on 12.5 acres in the Finger Lakes!

Enjoy a quiet getaway for adult guests over the age of 21 only, in a private family "A" frame home sitting on 12.5 acres of beautiful land in Savona, New York. We call it "The Cabin", built on part of the original 65 acre family farm on the side of "McGlynn Mountain". There is no need to bring towels or sheets - the house is fully stocked and the caretaker will make sure that everthing is clean and tidy before you arrive, and will clean up the entire house after you leave, incuding washing the towels and bedding. We are readily accessible by phone for any questions, suggestions or concerns. We have family in Savona who are available to respond for any emergencies.
The Dollar Store in Savona has everything you might need and the nearby town of Bath features grocery stores, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants - we love the Liberty and DJ Flamingos. You can spend your day at the "Cabin" lounging around on the large deck, or you could walk up McGlynn mountain to the back meadow, where the view is breathtaking. In the early morning hours, you will likely see deer in the front yard.
You can go out and venture around in some of New York's most historic towns. This beautiful home is about a 20 minute drive from the adorable town of Hammondsport on Keuka Lake, home of Bully Hill, Weis, and Dr. Konstantin Frank's wineries, among others. Hammondsport hosts some excellent restaurants, and gift shops. Check out the fish hatchery! Further north is Penn Yan with a sweet downtown shopping and restaurant area, and the Windmill Farm and Craft Market on the weekends (enormous). The Cabin is a 30 minute drive to Watkins Glen on Seneca Lake, with the motor speedway, the Gorge, and cute shops, boutiques and restaurants. Check out the Seneca Lodge and get the story behind the decor at the bar, and try the King, Queen orJunior prime rib. For Vegans/animal lovers, check out the Animal Sanctuary. Geneva NY is 45 minutes away featuring the Bellhurst Castle (absolutely lovely) and 3 Brothers Winery (actually 3 wineries and a brewery).
You can venture to many beautiful areas at the Finger Lakes within easy driving distance from the Cabin, including Keuka Lake, Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake. There are incredible water falls and hiking locations all around, including the Bath Overlook, Watkins Glen Gorge, Taughannock State Park, Letchworth State park (family fave), and Robert E. Treman State Park (love Lucifer Falls). Also, you are only a 30 minute drive from charming downtown Corning, and the incredible Corning Museum of Glass. If you are interested in going a tad farther, Niagara Falls is a two hour drive away.
Please consider having an enjoyable secluded and convenient getaway! We can provide an intinerary to you of our most favorite things to do and see during your time at the Lakes. Air conditioning is provided with window units in the upper bedroom and main living area. A limited amount of paper towel, toilet paper, cleaning products and soaps is provided; although if you run out, you may need to purchase your own (the Dollar Store is right down the road).
We prefer that renters be over the age of 21. By booking, you agree with this policy and comply with the request that the renting party is over the age of 21. NO pets or animals allowed at any time, except service animals. Smoking is not allowed in the house, but OK outdoors. There is a small firepit outdoors as well. Guests must comply with maximum occupancy. No Exceptions. Only 8 guests allowed at any time. Please, no children. We love kids and have a bunch of our own but "cabin" is just not set up for small ones. If you are found to be in violation, your party will be asked to leave immediately.

Yikes
Upon first impression everything looked good. We arrived, dumped our bags and took off for dinner. But after returning the wheels really fell off this house. The Keurig coffee maker's reservoir had 3 inches of algae at the bottom. Obviously it had not been cleaned in eons. Pretty sure the internals are also coated rendering it unusable. The kitchen table had sand or grit all over it and there was a expired bag of nuts on the counter. The refrigerator door was filled with expired condiments and there were 3 bottles of booze on bottom shelf. There was also an unlocked cabinet filled with alcohol. There were dead flies on the floor in numerous locations and we killed a number of big black ants. The carpet strips on the stairs leading up to second floor were not attached making for a dangerous trip. There was much dust under the beds, dressers and shelves. The 1st floor dresser was filled with personal items as was the bathroom. The bottom of the bathtub was filthy rendering it unusable. The sheets on the beds were questionable so we all slept in our clothes. Owner notified us that the washer did not work. In the morning we decided we could not spend a second night here. We did receive a partial refund.

Cozy place to stay near the finger lakes
Pros: We had a great weekend at this property. The location was great and the views were gorgeous. The owners were very nice and the check in / out process was seamless. Communication was great. The cottage had everything needed included towels and linens, which was nice. Cons: The only constructive feedback that I have is the amount of bugs inside the house both dead and alive. I expect bugs, especially in the wilderness but not to that extent.

Last minute race weekend
Great place. Clean and comfortable. I was initially a little concerned about the lane but got my Corvette up to the house without issue. The deer in the meadow first thing in the morning was a bonus. Heather was the perfect host. I highly recommend this place to stay

Cute little cabin
Cute cabin that is close to Hammondsport . One bedroom downstairs on main floor. Loft only has beds and a bathroom. Beds are one queen, full, and two twin beds all in the same big room. Owner was very nice and helpful.

Hidden treasure
Had a great time at this little farmhouse. Very comfortable and felt like home. The porch has great views morning and night. 30 minutes from Watkins Glen International. Drive 8 minutes the other direction to Bath and grab some great food. Highly recommended 👌

Nice little house.
Outstanding service by our host and Cousin Eddie. The house was very clean and we loved the relative seclusion from the neighbors. We even got to see some wildlife while we were there. Our host also gave some great recommendations for things to do in the area.

We stayed at the cabin for a long weekend. It was the perfect girls getaway. We hope to stay again with our husbands. It was close to everything.
