"The hotel has a very nice decor and interesting history and is well located, but its maintenance is its weak point. I asked for the promised upgrade and the guy at the front desk couldn't grant it, claiming that the manager was off duty. The floor tiles in our room were peeling off and were held in place with clear tape (!!!). The lighting was poor, and two light bulbs didn't work. "Considering the location (downtown Montreal…), my stay was surprisingly pleasant. The hotel was clean and quiet. The staff was super nice and friendly. The only thing: the doors make a lot of noise when they close, even with sleeping buds on. They are big industrial-type doors, and you must be very careful not to make any noise when closing them. And since people tend not to think about others, well, the noise can be very annoying. Other than that, it was a flawless experience. "
