Wonderful Portland Waterfront Home

Wonderful cottage style home with spectacular views and direct access to your own waterfront. Perfect for kayaking, SUP, fishing or enjoying the abundant birdlife. 3 minutes to downtown Portland's Old Port, restaurants, galleries, museums, micro brews. Walking distance to Mackworth Island State Park, rocky beaches, neighborhood restaurants and groceries. Relax on the deck with friends for breakfast, cocktails or dinner. Enjoy coffee from second floor deck off master bedroom. Nicely landscaped, always a cool breeze with off street parking. Built in 1915, the home has new on demand hot water system, lighting and original artwork throughout.
Recent renovations include hardwood kitchen flooring and new master bath. While new to VRBO, I have rented my home in the past and all of the guests loved their stay. Slate Pool Table, stereo, HD TV, WIFI included. Simply furnished, with two bedrooms, p living room, billiard room and two full baths. Nicely equipped kitchen with DW, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and new stainless refrigerator. Water views abound including Portland Headlight.
There are less than 25 homes in the city of Portland with waterfront property. This is one of them.
BTW, Coffee and chilled bottle of Prosecco await new guests!

Awesome
We arrived late at night. Mark had explained very well how to get in. He had left coffee and cream as well as a bottle of champagne as welcome gift. We certainly enjoyed our time in his home and looking forward to next year.

Terrific waterfront property with fantastic host
The location of this property was ideal - we were on the water with wonderful views yet only a few minutes away from all the Portland hot spots. (Very quick, easy drive into Portland with no issue finding convenient public parking). The house was just right for us (4 adults) with all amenities you would expect plus the bonus of a great chill place to relax in a quiet neighborhood. Loved having the pool table too! And our host, Mark, was fantastic. Talked to him before we arrived and he provided great list of things to do, places to eat, and general tips. He made his home very welcoming and it was a pleasure staying there. Definitely on our list to visit again!! Rave reviews for both the host and the property.

A home away from home (but better!)
Mark was an amazing host and offered a quick 15 min call prior to our stay to share some details about the house, and his favorite restaurant recs. The view of the water from the deck is amazing. The house was cozy yet spacious and felt like home. I loved his personal style. We were visiting family in Cousins most of the stay but I hope to book for a week (or longer!) next time to fully appreciate the house, deck and everything Portland has to offer. Thanks again, Mark!!

Wonderful Experience In Portland
My wife and I recently stayed with our two young children and our dog and had a great experience. The property itself is located in a quiet residential area yet minutes from numerous outdoor areas to explore (Mackworth Island, Eastern promenade, etc) as well as all that downtown has to offer. The house is well maintained and stocked with all of the essentials. Mark is an incredibly thoughtful host and I would recommend his home to anyone traveling to the area. We look forward to visiting again in the future!

Very Disappointing
MOLD in guest room. Host was willing to change the AC unit but would not acknowledge that mold spreads through the air and isn’t safe. Then tried to gaslight me about being too cautious. Very disappointing. The house has many oddities. Stairs jut into the living room, door handles barely attached, loose bannister, ceilings only accommodate those shorter than 5’ 10”. You will hit your head going up the stairs, using the bathroom and waking up. Bed in master is very uncomfortable. Can’t speak to guest room because we avoided it due to mold. This is not a well-curated rental. View it as a place to sleep close enough to Portland proper with a water view. View out back yard and kitchen full of pots are positives. But learn from our mistake. You’ve been warned.

Incredible View - Great Location!
My husband and I recently stayed at Marks place. The home has historic coastal charm and is in a quiet, quaint neighborhood tucked right off a main road - both quiet and easily accessible! The yard and view were beautiful - the ideal getaway spot overlooking the Presumscot River and out to Casco Bay. We spent the majority of our visit on the porch and hanging out in the yard with our dog, but the inside was lovely as well. Check in was easy - we had a chance to meet the owner, which was great! He so kindly left a bottle of sparkling wine in the fridge and fresh coffee grounds with a french press and kettle! If you’re visiting Portland, but like a little more breathing room than an apartment, this location is fantastic. Access to the highway was about 2 minutes, and about 7 to the center of downtown, although there are a few more or less walkable restaurants. Getting a BLVL almond croissant was a mere 10 minute round trip, and enjoying it while watching the tide come in - the best! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Ahhhhhhhhhh .....
In the evening, sitting on the deck, we watched the water turn pink with the sunset. The next night a bald eagle perched for twenty minutes on a piece of driftwood in the neighbors yard - 50 feet away. We cooked nice meals, learned to play pool, walked two minutes to the local deli, walked two minutes the other directions to Martin's point, walked a half mile to Beals Old Fashioned Ice Cream, a Noodle Bar, Thai Cuisine and the back bay. Super relaxing - we could have just stayed home all day but we didn't. Turn North off Oregon Street and travel through Falmouth, Yarmouth , Freeport, Brunswick - hug the coast for a wonderful drive up HW 88, then S Freeport Road - stop, cut in to to every port, explore. Find Town Landing Market - pick up lunch, take it to Broad Cove Reserve and eat on the beach, take a hike at Wolfe's Neck Oceanfront Camping - end up in Brunswick. I could go on and on, It's the perfect location for all this ... and on the water!

Perfect Introduction to Maine!
Our stay at Mark's home was awesome! We traveled up to Portland - had never been there before - and Mark greeted us the first night we arrived and told us about the many things to do in the area. He was also available to contact that week if we needed any more help/ideas! At the house, we were within walking distance to a few places to eat (which were delicious) and within easy driving/Uber distance (5 minutes) to downtown Portland with the grocery stores, restaurants, breweries, and even the Urban Farms Fementory. We also took our dogs across the bridge around the corner and did the picturesque 1.25 mile walk around Mackworth Island. Dog-friendly sandy and rocky beaches were also easy to get to around the different areas surrounding Portland. Watching the sunrise and sunset from the porch was a perfect way to start and end the day, and we had a ton of fun one of the days just hanging out at the house playing pool, Cribbage, and dominoes. We couldn't have found a better place to stay on our visit! Thank you so much for everything!!

Visit to Maine
We had a great long weekend in Maine. The house is very close to downtown Portland and convenient to the highway for day trips outside the area. Evenings in the backyard are the perfect way to finish your day while enjoying the breezes and water views.

Perfect for a family of 4
Great location just outside city. Quick ride to downtown by car or Uber. House was very clean and neat. Stairs upstairs maybe a challenge if you don’t pay attention, as well as upstairs bathroom for a male. Other than that the house was great and would recommend!

Maine Family Trip
Brought my two kids (ages 14 & 12) to stay for a 3 day visit. I’m originally from the area and I have quite a bit of family still living locally. This was the perfect trip for us. The property was an epic slice of Coastal Maine! From the beautiful water views to the cozy cottage experience this home was superb. Our Host, Mark, was so accommodating, warm & friendly. It’s really special when the host makes you feel like family and is genuinely happy to see & hear about us having a wonderful time. My kids & I will always cherish the memories we made here. This is what we all needed and gave us a chance to bond. Thank you Mark for your hospitality and for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful view, excellent location!
Our family had a great stay in this house. The view of the water from the back deck is truly beautiful. We loved eating our meals out there! The location of the house couldn't be better. Only minutes into the city for any activity we wanted to do, but nice and quiet neighborhood to return to. Mark was a great host and happy to offer any activity or restaurant recommendations. When the week was over, nobody wanted to leave! :)

Overall Decent Place but a great backyard view
Good things first - great backyard view. And my son loved the pool table. Also the location. Close to everything. So it was very comfortable to drive everywhere and come back for a break and go back out again. Mark also stopped by to give us some ideas on what to do and he was accessible via text and call. Which I thought was a good thing. On to the things that can be improved - two bath as said in the property description is a joke. The bath in the master bath was so cramped. No headroom. And very small. Actually it's a moot point as that bath had a leak and so we didn't use it at all. The entire upstairs is a challenge for anyone over 5 ft tall. First night we kept bumping our heads and arms and legs everywhere. The beds were not comfortable and small and we left a day early because I couldn't handle another night of no sleeping and more backpain. We took our dog with us and per Mark there was a $100 additional fees. I didn't see any such thing while booking and Mark mentioned he waived it for us as the master bath wasn't working. That seemed like an after thought to me. Maybe I missed seeing that clause?? Also I am a neat freak. When I found that there were very old stuff in the refrigerator and freezer it put me off. And there wasn't any coffee or chilled bottle as promised in the property description. All in all it was a decent stay. Will I rebook this property again? Don't think so. If you just need a central location and a place to say and you don't care for the things I mentioned, go for it. It's definitely better than staying in one hotel room.
