Looking to take a relaxing getaway in the Olympic Peninsula? Look no further than this charming Port Ludlow cabin! A quiet natural setting away from city stress, amazing views, and easy access to a nearby beach and several of Washington's best small towns make this an easy choice for your next vacation.

Just four miles north of the quiet town of Port Ludlow and only 14 miles from popular Port Townsend, your new home away from home is perfect for peaceful getaways, with a shared neighborhood beach just a short walk away and a lovely waterfront view from the wide, spacious deck. Stretch out, lie down in the hammock, and enjoy the crashing waves and the woodlands surrounding you.

Beautiful wood paneling, matching simple furnishings, and unique decorative touches like unique ceramic fish, tasteful statues and paintings, and plenty of books on the bookshelf all come together to give this home a relaxing, rustic atmosphere. When it's chilly out, warm up by the wood stove.

Marvel at the seaside views of the deck before stepping back inside and taking it easy in the living room. Take a seat on the cushy rocking chairs or the sofa by the windows and relax. This home is a great opportunity to unplug, but you don't have to give up on top-notch entertainment - this home features a TV with a DVD player!

Prepare and store simple meals in the fully-equipped kitchen with beautiful wooden cabinets. When it's time for dinner, sit down at the table near the windows, or head to one of the outdoor tables and dine alfresco on the deck while enjoying the ocean air. The gas grill is great for adding charred favorites to the menu.

Please note that access to the loft is via ladder and can be tricky. Meanwhile, the shower in the home's bath will keep everyone nice and clean before they head out to explore the Washington Peninsula!

It's tempting to stay at home, with a pickleball court, a neighborhood beach, and plenty of beautiful nature to admire, but you'd be missing out on the many nearby Olympic Peninsula sights and sounds! In addition to Port Ludlow's charming shops and restaurants four miles to the south, you're within 14 miles of Victorian seaport Port Townsend, as well as Port Hadlock and Marrowstone Island. If you'd like to enjoy the small-town sights and small lakes of Whidbey Island, it's just a 42-mile drive - and scenic ferry ride - from your door!

Why wait on a perfect Washington vacation? Place your reservation today, and enjoy the peaceful, relaxing getaway you deserve.

There was Zero help from anyone. The toilet broke on our first day(monday)still wasn't working on Wednesday. We called in to the managers.Nothing but promises.SO we had to run into town whenever we had to go.(or out in the woods). The water system is not legal. I wouldn't even take a shower in it.The ice trays were froxen brown ice.The owners comments say "If you don't like it go into town and buy water. It's Mid May and the lawns have yet to be mowed. There is NO access to the beach because the neighbor closed the trail. For the fire place the owners have a couple signs "Only 5 pieces of wood per stay.So for a 3 night stay you only get 2 pieces a night. That won't even get the chill out. Perfectly acceptable stay. Note that there is a path to a beach that you are not allowed to enter. Bring your own firewood. Owner(s) insist you take off your shoes.

Overall I would stay again. View was beautiful. Cabin rustic and very cute. Things were a bit dusty and serving utensils still had dried food on them. Back deck was not clean at all. Main compliant was when power went out we had two days left with no power back on before we left. We had no electricity, we could not cook or wash or use toilets. There was no power and roads were blocked due to downed lines so no way to get to nearest town for water or supplies. I know weather can not be controlled but Vacasa did not offer another place to stay or give a refund. We did see on other reviews where those options were extended.

A cozy and light-filled waterside retreat
This was the perfect place for us to spend a couple of days in March. When it rained, we could enjoy beautiful water views and the wood stove. When the sun was out, we could wrap ourselves up and take advantage of an extensive deck to soak up some early spring sun. Access to the water is minimal--there is a neighbor who controls the last few steps to the beach, and tenants are asked not to use that access. Easy walk down the street to community access, but neither of the little rocky beach areas are great. Nicely equipped kitchen, good bed, nice assortment of seating options. I'd say it's perfect for one couple--but anyone extra should be comfortable clambering up a vertical ladder to use the sleeping loft. Otters and an eagle made daily appearances!

Spectacular location, private & peaceful on the ocean
We loved this place, but had a few hiccups to mention. First, when we arrived after traveling all day to check in at 4pm, we had a difficult time opening the lock....need better directions( add: hold down left lever & pull towards you). Then, when we entered we soon discovered the place had not been cleaned.. Contacted Vacassa, and the cleaner arrived in 45 minutes. Since the weather was beautiful , we were able to remain outside until cleaner was done at 6pm. Dryer continued running until 7pm. Vascassa agent was notified the place had been cleaned, and would contact owner about possible compensation for the situation, and I would hear back but did not. Other items include: *1/2 roll of toilet paper, and no back-up (really? for a 2 night 3-day stay?)we ran out, and fortunately had some with us!!!...*1/2 roll paper towels (no backup)....* Liv. Rm. lamp near T.V., not working.....*DVD-TV Instructions are insufficient!. Coffee Maker- only supplied two small filters (glad I brought some).... *Bar-b-Q- the entire grill pan needs replacing....could not use. Propane was provided. Other than those incidentals, we loved the well appointed home with a view and access to the beach, it was amazing!!! This was our anniversary, so even though we got off to a shakey start, we would go back.

Great lodging but poorly cleaned
The view was spectacular, very quiet for a relaxing time away from the normal grind. Although the quiet was interrupted by a well meaning (hungry) woodpecker that became our dependable 6 am alarm clock that is damaging the siding above the loft windows. We found a number carpenter ants which I think may be the woodpecker's desired diet. The pots and pans need to be clean. Some were greasy and some had food attached. As a guest of your lodging I would expect them to be washed thoroughly. The pot holders need to be washed, or replaced by new ones. All shelving holding dishes should be washed down between guests. Furniture should be dusted between guests. All in alll, the place just needs to be cleaned. But for the negative comments Shanty Too is a wonderful unit. The location truly is marvelous.

Charming Cabin with a Great View
We wanted to find a nice birthday weekend getaway for our daughter who just turned 8. She picked this location due to the loft. The loft was awesome. More space and head room than some places we've been and the ladder was adult friendly for us old folks' knees. We also discovered the neighborhood dog on our first day and that was amazing. A very friendly golden retriever who could come over and play. I loved learning the cabin's history and there was a nice writeup at the location. Also, the caretaker left a nice little birthday note for our daughter. Great weekend overall!

Cute cabin in a beautiful area with a fabulous view.
It was perfect for a summer weekend getaway. It’s rustic so don’t expect luxury. The master bed was posted as queen size but it seemed like a double bed. Every time we rolled over we ran into one another. It was okay for 2 nights but I would not have enjoyed it for longer. Otherwise, all good.

Incredible view but not so clean
Stayed in the cabin for 4 nights, and I could say that the past reviews are pretty much accurate. Stunning views from the backyard. My son said, the view does not get old and it looked like he was in a movie every time he stepped out of the cabin. We had lots of fun playing pickleball on the built in court. Now the not so great part, first and foremost is the communication. I emailed the property owner 3 days before we arrive and we did not get any replies at all from the owner. An automated reservation confirmation was all I had. I had a few questions that were not addressed at all. But that was okay, I just think it was odd that the property owner did not reply at all to my messages. Second is the past review about cleanliness was spot on. We encountered dirty dishes in the cabin, unwashed silverware and plates. There was one drinking glass that had lipstick marks on it. There were cigarette butts left on the ash tray on the back deck and by the front porch. The bbq grill was not cleaned at all with left over burnt food on the grill. Now the most outrageous one was there were 2 bats inside the cabin. My kids freaked out when they saw a couple flying bats inside the cabin. They were mostly hanging out on the very far left corner of the ceiling on the second level of the cabin, they were harmless. I was going to email the property owner and let them know about the bats, but knowing that they do not reply or communicate back to renters, I did not see what's the point of even trying to tell them and asking for assistance. Anyway, we still enjoyed our stay. I just hope that the property owner would take it to heart what the renters were saying about the cleanliness of the cabin. I am not sure if I can fully recommend this place. Still, the views were amazing!

We loved this place and will be coming back in the future! Lovely cabin with an amazing view; we felt at home instantly. The location is quite private, with neighbors on only one side which is nice if you're looking for some R&R. The pickleball court was in great shape and we had a blast playing. The only negative was that the hammock was broken upon our arrival, but we made it work. Overall, we loved this place!

Dirty
When we arrived at the house we quickly noticed that it HAD NOT been cleaned. The floors needed to be swept and vacuumed. The sheets hadn’t been changed, there wasn’t any extra sheets and no laundry soap. Trash hadn’t been taken out and there was no extra bags. Finger/hand prints all over the windows. Mouse poop in kitchen. Large ants. Hair in the bathroom sink. No paper supplies. There was a large pile of trash on the side of the house, the neighbor dog got into it and drug it all over. I messaged through the Vacasa app and got no response, I called and texted twice. Finally on day 3 someone came and picked up the trash but left the trash that the dog took by the pickle ball court. The house itself is lovely, the location is lovely. We are in the middle of a pandemic, that house should of been cleaned and sanitized as the email said it would be. I am disappointed in the lack of response by Vacasa. I feel there should be some compensation for this.

Amazing view... and BYO TP
First, the good. The view is spectacular. We saw eagles, great array of birds and even a sea otter. The house is very much like a rustic cabin. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, etc. The bed is fine - a little soft for my taste, but I still slept just fine. And really, who cares. The view is amazing. That's how we decided on this house. Now the bad part. Vacasa promises a worry-free stay with "Vacasa Premium Clean. This new cleaning program meets or exceeds CDC recommendations and guidance from hospitality industry experts." The house was clean enough. It's old so hard to tell whether they did the more extensive premium clean. Regardless, we arrived prepared to re-wash all the linens and towels, disinfect all of the surfaces open windows for ventilation, which we would have done in any rental. What we didn't do was scour the house for replacement toilet paper and paper towels. Why would we? Who rents a home with only a partial roll of toilet paper and a partial roll of paper towels? Apparently Vacasa. When the roll of paper towels and toilet paper ran out the morning of our departure, we did look and found nothing. I understand that people are hoarding TP, but at LEAST provide a back-up roll of each. We called the local property manager and asked for replacement and did not get a call back until 11:22 - 22 minutes after the check-out time. Their excuse? They slept in. In a normal environment this would have been an irritant and maybe a quick run to the store. During a pandemic it's inexcusable. It immediately caused us to doubt the level of cleaning and adherence to the CDC guidance. We were charged a $70 cleaning fee. We expected a safe, sanitary environment. I'm not sure that's what we got. Notwithstanding, on day of check-out we did what we always do - started a load of laundry, cleaned and put away dishes and took out the trash. And after the pandemic we would have definitely returned to this house (and bring our own TP!). Unfortunately, we will definitely think twice before renting from Vacasa again.

Tranquil setting, beautiful scenery, but cabin needs attention
A tranquil and scenic vacation spot, rustic, and remote. Large deck and 180-degree view of the Puget Sound and Whidbey Island. Wildlife including eagles, herons, and deer are a constant source of entertainment. The cabin needs some updating and a good thorough cleaning. Don't try to use the waterfront as you have no access. Wish we had known that the beach access is approximately 200 yards from the home and, reportedly, you can launch a kayak from there. Living room was a wonderful and comfortable area to hang out, but the carpet could use a shampoo, and the windows need cleaning inside and out to fully take advantage of the gorgeous view. We felt that the cleanliness was acceptable aside from some dusty plates. The cabin is extremely well equipped for cooking and serving, and there’s a good variety of herbs and spices. The stale food products should be thrown out. New stove was great. There are no blackout shades in the main bedroom, so the sunrise will definitely wake you. Bed was comfortable, and there was a large closet with plenty of drawers. As for the other sleeping area in the loft… access is difficult and there is no privacy up there. Suitable for older children, but not for anyone who values their privacy. Bathroom was ok, except the sink did not drain very well, and the wood surround of bathtub needs resurfacing. Ideally it would be tiled, but at a minimum it should be stripped, re-stained and a waterproof clear coat applied. The deck is equipped with two sets of tables and chairs for dining alfresco, and the hammock is awesome. BBQ was small but adequate. Warning: wear shoes on the deck as it is in need of repair: boards are rotting and surface needs refinishing. Owners should replace, remove, or repair deck hot tub, a disgusting eyesore. (per Owner’s response to a previous reviewer… maintenance work around the hot tub had not occurred by the time we arrived on August 2.) If they replace or repair it, regularly scheduled maintenance is a must. I fully agree with a previous reviewer that the rate advertised per night is misleading. At first glance it seems reasonable, but with the additional owners’ fees and VRBO administrative fees, the final price is nearly doubled. A more liberal cancellation policy would be helpful. The policy is 60 days in advance for a full refund! I will not be using VRBO in the future if this trend continues.

Great cabin in a great location, final cost is higher than anticipated.
This was a great vacation spot, and a great way to decompress and relax, it is picturesque, rustic, and removed. Beach access is very close, and you have nearly a 180 degree view of the water with Whidbey Island and the Cascade mountain range in the background. The sunrise is worth the early wake-up. Eagles soar over the property, and the hammock is a nice addition. One comment I have for those reading this, is that although the price that is advertised per night seems reasonable, once you pay and get the final bill, the price is nearly doubled with added in owner charges, if you need to cancel, the policy is 60 days in advance for a full refund. I would advise the owners to be upfront and just list the price you want for the cabin, and do away with all the extra hidden fees.
