Beach Balance is a great budget hotel for people who can sleep through heavy noise levels. It is decently clean, sometimes has hot water, sometimes has Wi-Fi, is centrally located and on 5th Avenue, is only 3 blocks from the ADO station, and 4 blocks from the ferry to Cozumel. The biggest negative about this hotel is that it's located across the street from an open air nightclub. I measured the noise level at 80 decibels inside the room with the windows and doors closed. At this level, it was hard to hear the television in the room. The other negative was some of the reception staff (young woman glued to phone and ignoring guests) and the check in process. During check in, they tried to claim I hadn't paid for the room yet and attempted to get me to pay again. I was able to pull my receipt from Expedia and show it to them, so I'd advice others to have their receipt before check in. Overall, it can be a decent option at $50 or less per night, but I'd look for a better hotel if the price is higher.

I got to the hotel around 9:30 pm and am supposed to check in but no one was there. I had been told there is a lock box with a key in it so they gave me the lock box, I opened it, and no key. I called the hotel rep who was talking to me on WhatsApp and she had to come to the hotel from her home to check me in. This process took about an hour. Such an inconvenience after an entire day of travelling to wait an hour to check into your hotel room. I get to the room to take a shower and the water starts leaking all over the bathroom due to a faulty shower head. This was adding to my frustration.

This place is a dump! See through curtains. Toilet seat didn’t fit. Supposed to have a King sized bed got a full sized. Asked for late checkout went to eat and came back the maid was in the room, and took the left overs out of the fridge.

I booked the stay and paid in advance on Hotels.com, but when I arrived the hotel had no rooms available. This left me scrambling to find a room at 8pm, after a 6 hour bus ride a couple days before NYE. I contacted Hotels.com for a refund, and after a couple days they got back to me and said that they were not able to contact the Hotel and my refund was denied according to the cancelation policy. Except I didn't cancel, I was there attempting to stay in the room I paid for and was denied.

First of all if you need quiet to sleep, RUN from this hotel. Loud music all day from 10:00AM to 1:30AM. Not even muffled. May as well have had the bar put their speakers in my room. Bathroom door was falling apart. Terrible maintenance. The shelf you have in the closet to store stuff also houses the piping for the A/C so it dripped onto My clothes. The bathroom is microscopic and in severe need of maintenance. The shower water kept good temperature but shot out sideways. Also the shower leaked out into the floor of the room. The A/C took forever to cool the room down but it did eventually become comfortable. The ceiling fan had only one very slow speed. All the fixtures were extremely old and bubbling. I took pictures. The light fixture above the bathroom sink was jury rigged. Not mounted properly. The staff were friendly and the maid did a good job. The toilet seat was wrong size for toilet and flimsy. It actually moved down into the bowl when I sat on it. Electrical outlets were hanging lose. The best thing about this hotel is it’s location. It’s so close to all the action. But that’s part of why it’s so loud as well. Oh, and last but not least, I paid for a king sized bed and got a full sized bed. Not right.

Location is great, right on 5th Avenue. The beds were horrible. Hard as a rock. It took running the shower for 10 minutes for hot water. The toilet seat was broken and the flusher broke while I was there. There was a raggedy couch in the room. One of the bed side lamps did not work. There is no coffee pot in the room. There is a microwave and a small fridge, both of which worked well. The AC was not functioning and I had to ask for a blanket.

The hotel itself is clean and in good location. The listing was incorrect. There was no Wi-Fi, The listing said parking and breakfast which was at another location 45 minutes away. The booking had to say no parking, no Wi-Fi and no breakfast.

Bad experience ever!!
I made the reservation through hotel.com.However the room was full when we got there. The receptionist name Oscar was so rude.We tried to borrow his phone to call hotel.com to clarify. Not only he refused to help us, he also screamed at us. We feel really disapointed with the service. Very bad experience.He almost ruin our vacation

No hot water, watch out for heart attacks
Well, I chose this room cause I wanted a cheap stay in Playa. Well, just like others have said "No Hot Water", what the...you look on the amenities and never expect for it to say "Hot water available". Hey, I am 50 years old, and a cold water blast to your ticker like that just may take you over the edge and give you a heart attacks. Let me tell you, I just took this as a learning experience on being cheap, and learning how to go super commando and take cold water blast to the body.

Was a nice place centrally located. Room was ok.
Check in was ok room was ok needed a safe deposit box. Got robbed first night i was there not hotels fault. Went to Coco Boingo and when i left or during my time there someone put something in my drink. Stole my cash and debit card. Hotel helped me thru this ugly process. Alejandro was a great guy. wish they had safe deposit box would have never happened. Stayed two nights air was superb bed was comfortable. The place is very well located near everything. price was great. The only problem was with there wifi it only works in hotel small reception. i enjoyed my time there.
