Very well maintained small hotel in Pictou. Old charm of Scotland. Nice room with very confortable King bed. Sandy, the innkeeper, is very knowledgeable and part of the Scottish charm. The breakfast was good in a very nice dining room. Definitely recommend.

We stayed 2 nights at the Scotsman. Sandy and Kathy, the hosts, were most welcoming and helpful. The room was impeccably clean. The room decor showed there was time and thought put into the furnishings. The breakfast was great, served by Sandy, a true kilted Scotsman.

Lovely, beautifully furnished historic inn the perfect location! The white tablecloth and china breakfast was a special treat. On the downside, Our cozy room on the top floor was a bit too small, the hallways a bit too cluttered with no comfortable gathering spaces.

The Scotsman Inn is a lovely, gorgeously appointed B&B hotel that oozes charm and at-home comfort, with upscale attention to detail. The deck alone is worth the stay. But what makes the Scotsman Inn remarkable and worthy of a trip are Sandy and Cathy, the owners and operators. They are lovely people who made our overnight stay before catching the ferry to PEI an experience we will never forget. Treat yourself. Thank me later.

This is a lovely place to stay. The property is very well cared for, clean, and charming. Our room was well appointed with beautiful linens, boutique body products, and the bed was so comfortable! The hosts are friendly and full of local knowledge which they are more than happy to share. I highly recommend this property!

Wonderful rooms, spotlessly clean and every little detail thought of even down to a black facecloth to use to remove makeup if necessary or any other ‘messy’ job to save the beautiful white towels etc. Ample parking. Breakfast was continental, warm croissants made by Cathy, served with flair by Sandy dressed in his kilt in a stunning dining room. A wonderful source of information too with suggested routes to get the best from your visit. Thanks for a wonderful stay and maybe bump into you both sometime in Dumfries and Galloway.

Good location. Comfortable bed. Nice shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Shower is small. Quiet. Gave us a great recommendation for dinner. Complimentary coffee pods and cups outside our door were all used up when we got to it. Also, our Expedia reservation email said continental breakfast for us two was included, but owner when checking in said it was not included if we booked through Expedia and that it would be an extra $20.00 each for breakfast. A shame because we had booked here in order to have an easy quick breakfast before driving to the airport. Checking the Expedia email again we mentioned it was listed as included—the owner asked for proof and when I showed it, they then said it was wrong and it was a very uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. I felt punished and cheated for using Expedia and if they don’t want people to book through Expedia they shouldn’t list their property on Expedia. If they don’t want breakfast listed as included on Expedia that is between the owners and Expedia, not their guests. A shame our last night on a 14 day vacation left a bad taste in our mouths over a bowl of yogurt.

The property is very convenient to the downtown area as well as being safe and quiet. The owners, Sandy and Cathy, are excellent hosts. The rooms are clean, well maintained and are very comfortable. The rooms I have stayed in have all had good views of the town and harbor.
