Enjoy the coastal air with a scenic walk amid the greenery of the Parque de Mataleñas. This coastal park lies close to the Cabo Mayor Lighthouse and encompasses numerous attractions including a pond and sports circuit.
Stretch your legs with a walk along the park’s paths that pass through a garden with pergolas, shaded wooded areas and expanses of green. Among the park's trees are pines, palms, horse chestnuts, cypresses, yew and black poplars. Challenge yourself on the park's sports circuit. Along the route are various pieces of exercise equipment such as a trampoline and double rings.
Pause for a moment’s reflection by a bronze statue called Proposición para un Vacío (Proposition for Vacuum). It is dedicated to the memory of all cancer victims and represents the emptiness that is created by people who are no longer here because of the disease. The plaque at the foot of the artwork is inscribed to the memory of a relative of the artist who created it.
Go over to the pond and feed the ducks. If there are younger children with you let them run, jump and climb in the play area. Enjoy a few rounds at the park's nine-hole golf course. In between shots contemplate the glorious views of the coastline.
Continue your enjoyment of the great outdoors with a trip to the beach. From the Parque de Mataleñas you can access the Playa de Mataleñas, located in a small cove between two headlands and the Playa de Molinucos. This is a small isolated beach that is just 82 feet (25 meters) long.
Parque de Mataleñas is located on the Cabo Menor near to the Cabo Mayor Lighthouse. Drive and park in the free spaces near the Playa de Mataleñas or come by bus.
