Pangka Beach is the best area in Koh Samui for that romantic island getaway. The beach and surrounding bay are located in the southwest corner of Koh Samui, far away from the nightlife and tourist spots of the north and east coasts. You wont find much to do in terms of activities, with the village mainly catering to just the local population.
When visiting Pangka, it’s best to stay in the area. You’ll find accommodation all along the beachfront, with varying prices to suit all budgets. Some of the best resorts include activities on the beach and offer a range of watersports for their guests.
Lazing about by the pool or beach is the preferred activity in Pangka, but if you’re feeling a little more active, find your way to one of the nearby temples in the hills. The Samui Snake Farm is also located just behind Pangka. This small reptile zoo is good for a half-day adventure with the kids, and admission price includes live shows with cobras and pythons.
Pangka Beach is also close to Thong Krut Bay and the fishing village there. Get off the main island and explore the islands of Koh Mudsum and Koh Tan by boat. Snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing charters are all available.
The nightlife in Pangka is virtually non-existent, with most visitors preferring relaxing nights “at home.” Pangka is, however, known for having one of the best sunsets on Koh Samui, so grab a cocktail and relax by the pool as the sun sets across the bay.
Pangka is located about 20 minutes south of the car ferry pier at Samui International Port and about an hour from Koh Samui’s airport.
