"Really unique secluded log cabin in the rainforest. We enjoyed a sunrise walk out to Waipi'o overlook and walking around the gulch trails on property. The Owl theme and art was incredible. Frogs are loud but the host leaves ear plugs which is really thoughtful. Totally recommend starting here. Mahalo!"

"A stunning and beautiful situation and location. The hosts Garrett and Kaia were so pleasant to deal with and very helpful. They made suggestions as to sights to see and good places to eat, going so far as to even picking up a meal for us. There was plenty of room at this location for all of our family and each member had their own room. Out grand children greatly enjoyed the animal life both domestic and wild. "we met the owners on our arrival and found them to be extremely involved and wonderful hosts, our stay was also wonderful but we did have a few hic-ups , it. seems the company in charge of supply and care of the unit was being changed so we did not receive proper responses to our requests. after we found out who the new manager was (John) he took care of everything, Thank you again John. we highly recommend a stay at the Treehouse at Hakalau. we will return."

"The house was located in a very local neighborhood, neighbors were parked in our parking spot. The code for the house was not in the email we received, when we called the contact number it was out of service. Self check in process was difficult. The inside of the house was beautiful but there were roaches all over the house dead and alive, as well as cockroach feces. The kitchen sink faucet was not secured/glued down so it moved every time you use it. It was a great location for what we needed...

"Val was the GM there when we stayed and she did a great job with everything. She gave us local recommendations for things to do. The room had a beautiful view of the water. There is a little trail to walk to this secluded beach with breathtaking sunrises. They catered a very nice 7 course meal one night for the guest and it was delightful. It all felt like an upscale bed and breakfast. Great secluded getaway. "

Serene, Restored House from Sugar Days with Sweeping Ocean Views

Outstanding!

"We arrive around 9:30pm, everywhere pitch black, but the house felt warm and welcoming, right away. After the sunrise we definitely appreciated the views of the house, the grounds and generosity of the owners, regarding the fruits of their orchard, all were great. The outdoor hot tub, and the private sauna were also, delightful and very soothing. The local scene in Honoka'a is limited in terms of things to do, but all around nature is the star. I played/walked the 9hole course in town, and the hilly course took the wind out of me a couple of times. Overall, a great experience, and when we come back we will stay with Marcel and Connie, and Shigecko and Marcus! (apologies if I misspelled Shigecko's name)"

What a Fabulous Stay!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beauty scenic property. Mary has created such a wonderful surrounding, full of calm and peacefully set against a picturesque backdrop. We were surrounded by nature, wildlife, and so many things to see and explore each day. Mary, herself, is amazing. We really enjoyed our time with her, visiting and learning about the community she's built and her fascinating life. And, she has the sweetest dog. We're so happy to have connected with her and glad to have made such a wonderful friend :) Our daughter loved the stay so much she didn't want to leave. We've moved around during our stay here on the Big Island staying at 3 different places, and she still says Mary's cottage stay is by far the best! If you visit Big Island, we'd highly recommend staying at Mary's beautiful retreat – It's a definitely must! "
