Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
First, the positives: It’s a great location. Lots of restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops nearby. Some cool shops and a movie theater are all within walking distance too. There are also a couple of subway stops very close. It was also pretty quiet. I didn’t hear any street noise at all, and it seemed the other guests were respectful. The front desk is also very helpful and friendly.
Now, the not so good: My room was tiny. I mean, barely enough room for me and the bed. There was a closet-ette I could hang a few things in, a small chair, and a phone, but that’s it. The remote to the TV was missing a battery, but it wasn’t even the same make so it might not have even worked. The pillows were inconsistent in shape and size with most being flat. The bed was comfortable enough though the mattress was pretty beat up and falling (?) out from under the bed. The bathroom was also tiny, and I had to close the door to even sit on the toilet. The shower (no tub) was filthy with mildew all over. This is not an exaggeration. There’s no fan or cover for the light fixture which actually came in handy when the bulb burnt out, and I changed it myself. The towels were rough and thin. The water took forever to get warm, then would randomly go from hot to lukewarm. Maybe due to others showering at the same time. The front door rubs on the carpet so badly you have to really pull it hard to close it.
It’s a shame because it has a lot of charm, but is in need of major upkeep and renovations.
