There are two single beds in the first room, two queens in the second, and three singles in the third. If you need more beds, just ask! By city regulation I am limited to four adults, but there is no limit on children under twenty-one. I have yet to check anyone's I.D., though. Algiers Point, the "best kept secret" of New Orleans, is just across the river from the French Quarter. A ten minute stroll on the riverfront bike path (or use bikes- I've got three, and more are easily rented)) brings you to the oldest continually operating ferry in the U.S., which makes the ten minute run every half hour. The river here is a half mile across, 260 feet deep and runs fast. Not to be missed! And you can see tall vessels sailing past from the porch! There are two "OK" restaurants, one outstanding breakfast place, and three coffee shops within two or three blocks of your door. There is lots of safe parking on the street just in front of your door for short or long term stays. The bathroom has lots of fresh towels, various toiletries, and an endless supply of hot water (at least I've never yet run out, even with twelve guests!) The kitchen is well stocked with all the regular breakfast items you expect: cold and hot cereal selections, eggs, breads, butter and other condiments, various fruits, yogurts, juices, milk, beer and wine, and soft drinks. There is a supermarket two miles off, and I am pleased to shop for any special diet items you might request. I have ducks in the back yard (kids love to feed them) which lets me offer you the freshest eggs you will ever have. The fencewd back yard is a safe place for your dog to frelax. The levee bike path is only a block away and goes for miles. I have three bikes and more can be rented easily enough. There is a new playground and park just a block away. There is a swing on the front porch so you can sit and watch the herons in their nests high above in our immense, 200 year-old oaks, "Bearded in moss and in garments green, indistinct in the bayou's twilight", as Hawthorne wrote. There is wi-fi, of course, and a radio and TV with local stations and a large selection of DVDs. You will find this house quiet, comfortable, and just the way to get a real taste for the city. 420 friendly. Once more, though, I want to stress that this is sort of an "open dorm" configuration, and the only privacy is in the bathroom. ## Property amenities ### Beach - Beach loungers ### Internet - Available in the house: Free WiFi ### Parking and transportation - Parking on site ### Kitchen - Coffee/tea maker - Cookware, dishware, and utensils - Dishwasher - Electric kettle - Microwave - Paper towels - Stovetop - Toaster ### Dining - Free breakfast available ### Bedrooms - 2 bedrooms - Bedsheets provided ### Bathroom - 1 bathroom - Bathtub or shower - Bidet - Free toiletries - Hair dryer - Shower - Towels provided ### Entertainment - Games - TV - Video library ### Outdoor areas - Patio - Yard ### Laundry - Laundry facilities - Washing machine ### Comfort - Air conditioning - Heating ### Pets - Pet friendly - 2 pets total ### Suitability/Accessibility - Smoking not allowed ### Services and conveniences - Housekeeping (limited availability) - Iron/ironing board ### Location highlights - Near a hospital ### Things to do - Bicycles ### Safety features - Carbon monoxide detector not reported (host has not indicated whether there is a carbon monoxide detector on the property; consider bringing a portable detector) - Smoke detector (host has indicated there is a smoke detector on the property) - Deadbolt lock ### General - Bicycles - Unit size: 1 square foot ## Similar properties ![Staircase](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/1000000/10000/6500/6413/0bfa85ad.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### The Lafayette New Orleans By Kasa Living New Orleans Central Business District - Pet-friendly - Free WiFi - Air conditioning - Parking available 8.6 Excellent 1,006 reviews CA $106 CA $124 total includes taxes & fees Dec 8 - Dec 9 [](https://www.expedia.ca/Hotel-Search?startDate=2025-12-08&endDate=2025-12-09&selected=6413&PinnedHotelID=6413&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Outdoor pool](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/1000000/30000/20100/20032/665fa84f.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### The Frenchmen New Orleans by Kasa Living Faubourg Marigny - Pool - Pet-friendly - Free WiFi - Air conditioning 9.2 Wonderful 320 reviews CA $125 CA $145 total includes taxes & fees Nov 11 - Nov 12 [](https://www.expedia.ca/Hotel-Search?startDate=2025-11-11&endDate=2025-11-12&selected=20032&PinnedHotelID=20032&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Outdoor dining](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/33000000/32550000/32546200/32546129/7ea979c4.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Wander through the French Quarter from a Treme Shotgun Home Mid-City District - Kitchen - Washer - Dryer - Pet-friendly 9.8 Exceptional 234 reviews CA $62 CA $353 total includes taxes & fees Nov 11 - Nov 12 [](https://www.expedia.ca/Hotel-Search?startDate=2025-11-11&endDate=2025-11-12&selected=32546129&PinnedHotelID=32546129&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Interior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/34000000/33660000/33655700/33655664/fa40b961.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Classic Shotgun, Steps from City Park, 2 Streetcar Lines and Lafitte Greenway! The neighborhood is great! Access to the city by car or ferry is great! Our kids love it, we love it, and the Point itself is welcoming and feels like home. We always feel like this house, in this neighborhood is a home away from home. We are already booked again in the future, and it certainly won’t be the last time. ##### Stacey L. I wanted to be in Algiers Point and in a "traditional" New Orleans house. It did not disappoint. Joey was so nice and attentive and Cleo is the best! Our favorite things here were the front porch and the varied decor in the home. Rooms and beds were clean and fresh and ample food in the fridge. Also you can't beat a safe neighborhood with an inexpensive ferry right to Canal St. I would definitely stay here again. 😊 ##### Stacey H. We usually try to stay in the French Quarter when in NOLA so that we can just walk everywhere, but both the hotels and the parking are so expensive. This house in Algiers Point is the perfect solution! The ferry is so close, and runs until 9:45pm, drops you off right at the aquarium. Waking up on a Saturday after a full day in the French Quarter we found the fridge fully stocked! What a happiness to have a full breakfast. The house is definitely set up to squeeze in as many beds as possible, so bring all of your friends for an amazing New Orleans getaway. ##### Angela B. Feb 25, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Shotgun house in Algiers We felt like we were staying with family!!! My crew came to NOLA to celebrate a 21st birthday and had an incredible experience. We have all stayed at several vacation homes and this is by FAR the best stocked!!! Joey has thought of everything. His quirky home is an antique beauty! We chose not to stay in the Quarter for many reasons, and chose Algiers because we didn’t want to stay “in the action”. We were a short 30 minute commute to the craziness, noise, and crime of the tourist areas. We used the public transportation and took the ferry into downtown. From there we accessed the entire city. When we came back from the hustle and bustle of city life we relaxed at the adorable English pub just a short walk from our rental. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!! ##### Rebecca S. It is for the traveler who enjoys the atmosphere of New Orleans and likes, or does not mind older but functional. The owner had done a great job of decorating with all things locally funky. I enjoy old houses and this was a treat. Also we found all the food in the fridge very convenient as we arrived later than we planned. William (Joey) was very nice and helpful. My daughter had never taken a bath in an original claw foot tub and the back yard with the pond and large black rabbit was again, funky but fun. Most of the beds are lower to the ground, which did not bother us, but notable for someone of advancing age who might find that a challenge. Keep in mind the age of the house so electric plugs were limited. The ferry was just a 10 min walk and extra beautiful at night. Overall a comfortable stay. ##### Kim G. When we arrived at 5, the owner was inside with his dog. The dog jumped all over me. We stayed at a hotel that night because of a dog allergy issue. The whole situation was strange. The medicine cabinet in the bathroom was full of someone else’s things. The cupboards were full. It was like someone actually lives there. We came back the next day hoping the dog allergy issues would be gone and someone had been inside when we weren’t there. Not what we expected. I won’t book a place like that again. It was a very expensive lesson. ##### Susan R. Stayed 3 nights in Aug 2021 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Colleen K. Jan 31, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### I'd go back in a heartbeat We loved this place but it wouldn't be for everyone. It's quaint and quirky, in a charming neighborhood, close to the river and the ferry, which is a fantastic bargain, get the Jazzy Pass which also includes unlimited rides on the streetcars and buses across the river. It has a cute front porch with a hanging swing and little pillows which we utilized in the evenings on the very quiet street. Rarely did a car go by.The shotgun style house is just that, so you'll need to be good friends since you're all sleeping essentially in one area. You walk into a living room with beds, into a second living room with beds, into a third living room with beds, into the kitchen and then separate bathroom. Decor is NOLA vibe, definitely not minimalistic and oddly interesting. It's a historic building and that essentially means it's old. There are ducks in the back yard which can be loud but we thought they were pretty cool. The owner, who lives on the other side of the duplex house, is a sweet older guy that thinks of the rental as a B&B, and readily supplies all kinds of things in the fridge and cupboards, like eggs, waffles, juices, coffee, breads, cheese and not the cheap kinds either . We cooked fabulous breakfasts both mornings and enjoyed the adult libations he also left us. As the title says, I'd go back in a heartbeat and although the others with me were not quite as enthusiastic about the place as I, they'd go back too! ##### Colleen K. We arrived after 9pm because we had a late flight. When we arrived at the property the door was unlocked in the key was in the door. The house had left over food in the refrigerator from previous guest, open cereal boxes up top of the refrigerator. The house have mold behind the livingroom couch after we notice after pushing the couch behind the door. Two of our guest notice Welps over their body the following evening prior to boarding our cruise . It WASN’T bedbugs But something definitely ate them up! The hosts was very nice but I definitely wouldn’t recommend the house to anyone else. Wouldn’t want them to receive the experience we did. ##### Lashondar P. We wanted the New Orleans vibe and this definitely delivered. The owner was super nice and accommodating and leaves food and drinks in the fridge for us and went above and beyond. If you want the New Orleans feel this is the place. It’s 10 minute walk away from the ferry, we didn’t get to do that because the kids didn’t want to walk but it’s super convenient. The home is filled with the culture of Louisiana. It’s not the “ritz” the home could definitely use a deep clean. For the price we paid, and the 9 people easily accommodated I couldn’t possibly complain. The hotel stay would have been triple. The ambiance of the home was like having my family in a huge slumber party. We stayed up late playing games, and woke up to enjoy coffee on the front porch swing. If you are looking for the Marriott move along, if culture, history and southern charm is what you want, this is your spot! Love this place ##### Jennifer A. While the house isn’t located in the heart of the action (French Quarter), it’s conveniently close to the ferry for easy access. The host was incredibly kind, even accommodating our late checkout. The space offered plenty of sleeping areas, though not much privacy—which worked perfectly for us. Plus, the fridge was well-stocked with drinks and food, making our stay even more enjoyable. Looking forward to another quick getaway here! ##### Lara A. Stayed 1 night in Mar 2025 ### 2/10 Terrible #### Jordan D. Oct 27, 2024 Liked: Check-in Disliked: Cleanliness, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Messy and didn’t feel safe The host was not responsive at all. While the outside looked cute and quaint, the inside was another story. First of all, the locks through the house are not safe. They are wobbly and falling off. We had a chair up against the back door and had the coffee table pressed against the front door. One bed was completely unmade and two looked like someone had been sleeping in them. The neighbors were also rude about a PUBLIC parking spot and made us feel unsafe. The whole experience made us feel so unsafe that we didn’t even stay a night. As soon as we walked in and felt out the place, we did not feel safe to sleep there so we frantically searched the town for ANYWHERE else to stay because anywhere would be better than this place. I have never had an experience like this - especially with so many amazing previous reviews. ##### Jordan D. I visited with 5 other ladies for my 60th.I loved the fact that there were so many small eating places so close to where this is. However the beds were not comfortable and the place smelled like dog which very unappealing. We were glad we only stayed one night, ##### Carmela M. It was super cool and stocked with all kinds of goodies. There's a cheap ferry a short walk away that takes you across the river to the French quarter. Fantastic place to stay and will stay again next time I'm in New Orleans ##### Jake W. The house itself is not for everyone but we love it and will return. Communication with the owner is easy and so is the check in process. Very close to the ferry terminal and you’re in the quarter in just minutes. Overall a very good experience. ##### Stefan Z. Stayed 1 night in Oct 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Stacey L. Joey is thoughtful to have it so well stocked. It could have been cleaner. We loved the shower head! The bathroom sink needs attention as it drains slowly. We would stay again. ##### Karen C.
