Moss Side Manor House

19th Century charm with modern convenience
Hardwoods, oriental rugs, 6 gas fireplaces and period furniture grace this authentic 19th Century planter’s home.  True to its original construction, the remodeled kitchen and an informal dining room are contained in an adjacent building, separate from the main house. The kitchen is well appointed with modern equipment.
Please inquire about hosting your event or wedding at Moss Side Manor

Our two bedroom historical home, Moss Side Manor, is a 19th century 2 story home located upon hundreds of acres of farmland. The main home contains 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a formal dining room, kitchenette, and living area.

The Kitchen tower is located behind the main building and is fully equipped with modern appliances, a half bathroom, and an upstairs dining area.

The copper roof barn in the back is a working barn for our small staff of farm hands. Our farmhands will sometimes need to drive by to feed the cows and maintain farm equipment. Please don't be alarmed - they are very friendly and considerate of our guests.

Main house, Kitchen Tower, Grill & patio, Gazebo.

Surrounding meadows and farmlands are great for hiking and horseback rides can be arranged.

The barn in the back will sometimes have farm hands working inside.

We are situated on a colonial roadway, now New Kent Highway. Local Saudè Creek Vineyards, the Gauthier Vineyard and the New Kent Winery can be reached within 10 minutes by car. Within approximately 30 minutes you will find the Muscarelle Museum of Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Colonial Williamsburg and Historic Jamestown. Kids will not want to miss a trip to the nearby Busch Gardens of Williamsburg. Golfers have their pick of over a dozen nearby courses.

The main residence contains the formal reception hall, living room, dining room, 2 upstairs bedrooms, and 2 and a half bathrooms.

Historic Gem
Our family of four loved our stay at the Moss Side Manor house. The house was very comfortable and we loved the historic furnishings. The farm setting was very interesting. We saw the farm manager feeding the cows and he kindly gave us an impromptu lesson on the farm and area properties. The house was also close to several restaurants and a short drive to Williamsburg. All in all a great visit. Highly recommended.

Fourth of July
We spent 6days in this lovely historic home. While adjusting to the kitchen being in a different building was unique; we really enjoyed the modern kitchen. It actually gave us a little away space. The house was beautifully appointed with quality antiques; yet comfortable for modern living. The television was turned on only twice, but the internet was very strong. We found a super winery and ice cream shop very close by. We traveled into Williamsburg twice, once for reservations at the Kings Arms Tavern (delicious) and again for the Fourth of July celebration (spectacular). I would definitely return to this house and its location.

Recommend this property for a great stay just outside Richmond
We had a really wonderful stay at this historic home. Everything was as nice in the pictures as in person and the setting and location was even more beautiful in person. The home was very clean. The sheets and towels were very nice quality and there was plenty of toilet paper and paper towels stocked. The kitchen has everything we needed and was very modern. We highly recommend this place!

Historic house with all the amenities
We were in the area seeing our son who is in VA for his summer internship. The home feels historical accurate while still having modern amenities. Having the kitchen in a separate building took a little getting used to but we managed. Our dogs were fascinated by the cow and the ground are beautiful. We had a small issue with the smoke alarm going off but the host was extremely responsive and handled it within 20 mins

Delightful Step Back in Time
We found Moss Side Manor to be all that was promised, and more! The manor was clean and beautiful and thoughtfully appointed. The host and staff were unfailingly pleasant and accommodating. What a lovely way to step back in time and explore the rich history of the area (without sacrificing any modern conveniences!). We will certainly return for future getaways!

Beautiful property
We enjoyed our stay and our dogs loved the yard. The stairs are narrow, so I had to carry my old dog up and down, but that's typical of a house built in that era. The buttercups covering the fields were beautiful.

Simply amazing!
This is a beautiful property . It is very nicely decorated, makes you feel stepping back in time. The amenities are very modern. I was wowed by the kitchen appliances and the mini fridge in the main building. The owner/manager has tend to every detail of the house, they even have robes for you. In the morning, listening to birds and watching the cows is just heavenly. It is about 30 minutes from the restaurants or site seeing in Williamsburg but the drive is very easy so we don’t mind. We sat in the screened porch, read books and listened to birds singing. It is such a nice property that I was surprised it is up for rent at a really reasonable price. New Kent Winery, which is like 5 minutes down the road, is very nice. The property manager Nichole is really responsive and easy to communicate with. We are already planning to go back!

Delightful Visit
A beautiful setting and a lovely home with gorgeous antiques. We felt like we stepped back in time yet were able to enjoy all of the comforts and amenities of a fine modern home. We loved cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. Family members also stayed in the charming cottage just down the road and we all agreed this was a very special experience - And the "Oreo Cows" were an unexpected treat! We highly recommend this home.

Perfect country stay!
Beautiful, charming and historic property! Check-in was easy, we arrived early but found the New Kent Winery just a short drive down the road. House was very clean and ready by the promised check-in time. Our dogs and kids loved running around the open property and of course were mesmerized with the beautiful cows, they may have have been their favorite part of the whole week! Kitchen was unique and quaint, beware of the wasps that have nests upstairs in the wicker baskets. Hosts, McKenzie and Nichole were very responsive when we needed them. Overall, we had a blast and would absolutely come back!

A step back in time
My husband and I stayed here last year for our anniversary. We loved it so much that we stayed here again for our anniversary this year. This home is stunningly beautiful. We love the separate kitchen and really enjoy having our dinners in the dining room above it. It is clean and the host is very easy to communicate with. One of the fireplaces wasn’t working at the time we were there so the host dropped of a bottle of wine for us to enjoy. This home is away from the bustle of city life and only 35 minutes away from Colonial Williamsburg. I highly recommend renting this place if you are going to be staying in the area.

Lovely Moss Side Manor!
Our family of four really enjoyed our stay at historic Moss Side Manor! It was sparklingly clean and charmingly decorated in period furnishings and had lots of special small touches. We especially loved cooking in the separate kitchen building - this is something truly unique and elevates this property to an experience, not just a place to sleep. The setting is so pretty and peaceful and is very convenient for touring the Historic Triangle area. We have rented properties all over the U.S. and Europe and we all agree that Moss Side Manor was one of our absolute favorites. Highly recommend it!

Historic Getaway
This historic property is nicely maintained and clean. Some instructions on how to run appliances and fireplaces would be helpful. Check in was easy but If you are showing up at night bring a flashlight as it is very dark out there and no outside lights were on. The neighborhood was very quite except for the morning crows and the afternoon cows. Lol It was a unique experience to have the kitchen in a separate building. Fun for a short stay would not want to live this way everyday. The only downside to our stay was that the fireplaces had just been turned on for season and a couple of them were not working. We do not have fireplaces in our house so that was a huge selling point for me on staying there. Overall a lovely home and nice stay .Thanks for sharing your house with us!!

It’s all about the kitchen house!
This historic house with separate “kitchen house/dining area” located behind the main house is unique and interesting to stay at. Very clean. Two large bedrooms in the main house, both w/fireplaces. Comfortable beds and linens. A powder room to share on the upper level. The downstairs has a large dining room and a sitting room. Both are full of antiques so care is needed. There are also 2 full bathroom on the main level side by side. One is tub/shower the other is footed tub with shower head (but not ideal for shower use). Rounded out with a nice screened porch. A washer/dryer stack unit exists in a small, poorly lit closet. But it works for a small load. The gourmet & only kitchen is located a short trot across the yard along a path & has an interesting set up. Great kitchen for cooks. 2 sinks. Nice range. Fireplace. Great place to hang out - although not a lot of seating. Meals can be carried upstairs to a very rustic room over the kitchen with plenty of seating and another fireplace. There is powder room off the kitchen. We enjoyed this experience - although commented that in poor weather - stepping over for morning coffee was a wet/chilly experience! The property is beautiful and sits up away from the road on several acres. There is a barn located behind the house (which is not included) and gets traffic from whoever works there. Highly recommend this place for a unique stay for adults.

This home was stunningly beautiful. Antiques in every room. Love the separate kitchen and the upstairs dining room. Was perfect for our romantic anniversary get away. Working fireplaces in every room. The custom master bed was so comfortable. Love the butler’s pantry with a small fridge and a keurig. Perfect for morning coffee if you don’t want to run to the separate kitchen. Close to a bunch of antique stores and Colonial Williamsburg/Historic Jamestowne but still private enough to keep that country feel. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions we had. We are already planning another trip. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your amazing home.

Perfect getaway
Our family wanted to experience some history on this trip (Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, etc.) and we searched for a property that had a historic appeal as well. We had high hopes for Moss Side Manor, and we were not disappointed! From the minute we drove onto the property, we all fell in love with everything about it. The main house, the separate kitchen, the grounds - everything was perfect. The decor was perfect for keeping the 1800's ambience going throughout the home, without sacrificing modern comforts and amenities. There is a TV in the home, but we enjoyed just relaxing in the home so much that none of us (including two teenagers) even felt like turning it on. Highly recommended - would stay here again in a heartbeat.
